The Singles (Cameron Crowe 1992)

  • Phwoar. Northern England is getting good for grunge - there's a new night in Manchester. (Tonight, as it happens, at the Phoenix. Looking forward to it! Even if I will be on my own, mope..)

(And I prefer Layne's vocals on the whole, as Eddie can get a bit whiny and Cornell get a bit too squeaky at times.)

Anyhoo, where's your night? Might investigate if I'm ever in Sheffield..

It's not really about teenagers, it's about 20somethings.

Close your eyes and bow your head
    I need a little sympathy
Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone
    Who isn't me
  • I'd say that Chris Cornell is a better vocalist then either Layne or Eddie but I'm a huge fan of all three
    Agreed.

I've just seen the film and uh, I hate to say this but I found it really boring, especially the main plot, the Steve-Linda thing... there were some funny moments though, and Debbie and Cliff were hilarious characters. And I loved the scene where 'Citizen Dick' were watching this nature programme on bees, with Janet trying to grab Cliff's attention by sneezing.
Aside of these few highlights, I must say I was disappointed, and wasn't the movie shot in Grunge-Era Seattle, it would be barely better than 'Tylko mnie kochaj' or any other poor romantic comedy.
Sorry for the lengthy post :)

the movie was shot in the most apropriate time to shoot a grunge-about movie ;) Let's get it straight - when the pope died, everyone whatched pope movies, after the 911 incident everyone wanted to see the movie, so there were no special needs to produce any ambitious film of grunge in the grunge era. And you gotta keep in mind, that there was no 'grunge', it was garage punk made by poor american kids who couldn't get no gigs down in seattle; journalists invented grunge ;) The intelligence brought to seattle music *i.e. from Eddie Vedder, came from outside seattle, as u know ;). People hooked to the new style were not the smartest teens around, just trend followers. AND at last - yea, the movie is dissapointing, the bee scene is fabulous and the main theme could have been either grunge music or some other genre, nevertheless it was meant for the people, not for sophisticated Bergman fans ;)

sry for bad english, being correct isn't 'my way' -.-

the plot is kinda laughable for sure, but that must be the only movie with eddie, stone, jeff, layne, jerry, cornell .. etc ..
(i don't understand how mark arm isn't in there tho .. citizen dick and touch me i'm dick are definitely based on him .. )

Nothing special about this film. Except soundtrack. But OST is one of the best hmmmm... ever?

He can't help, when he's happy looks insane.
  • Its a shit movie the only thing that makes it differant then a normal teen movie bis that they have grunge cloths on woohoo.

Also the dude (i forgot his name no nothing about movies) acted really bad.

The soundtrack was good though maybe Cameron Crowe should just relese soundracks from now on.
