  • yeah the pilot is rather unfunny

    oh word
  • Just been rewatching Black Books on 4od.

Good points- Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran in the same show. Drunk grumpy Irishmen are always funny. The bookshop setting is actually vaguely original.

    Bad points- Fucking laughter track.

  • Not a track - that was a live studio audience. Same goes for all Graham Linehan's shows.

  • So i watched 30 rock for the first time in maybe 3 years. I have to say it's like someone made a bunch of jokes, threw them in a bin, and pulled a few out. Thereafter they tried to make a loose narrative. It's so self-referrential that I doubt I'll ever appreciate it via stand-alone episodes.

Went through the first season of Terra Nova, not quite sure why.

  • Pulling.
It's Peep Show meets Sex in the City minus inner monologue, glam, and city--In a good way.

  • Finally got around to picking up season two of Party Down on dvd, which was as good a reason as any to rewatch the whole series. Probably one of my favorite tv comedies ever.

If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
  • Love it love it. But then I will watch anything with Lizzie Caplan in it. She's in New Girl now.

Finished Wire In The Blood, which wasn't god but I really liked Robson Green as Tony Hill and it was good knowing where from most of the Luther's ideas came from.

Now I'm into The Shadow Line. I'm hooked. Also this series has some really amazing soundtrack

  • Ooh, I've been needing a new show to get into. Do I see Chiwetel Ejiofor AND Christopher Eccleston in that frame? S O L D

  • Chiwetel Ejiofor reminds me - I am gonna watch all of Firefly next week, starting with Serenity, which I saw ages back, and loved.

Noel Fielding's new show is a bit silly.

The Shadow Line was depressing. Final overkill felt unnecessary yet I think it was good show. I just don't like people being shot, I'd say more but it would be spoiler.

BBC's State Of Play was acceptable. I had a problem with characters, because John Simm looks a lot like chief investor in company I work for and David Morrissey looks a lot like Radek Sikorski. So two absolute twats as male leads. Luckily Bill Nighy and Kelly Macdonald were aboard so it wasn't all so bad.

  • I have massive problems with John Simm. He's so excrutiatringly slight, and looks like he'd blow away in a stiff breeze, but people keep casting him as a leading man.

You should probably finish with Serenity, right? Being that it takes place after the series.

Remember watching the first season, promising as I recall.
Though, had my doubts it could actually conclude...
    How were the subsequent seasons?

    I'll go walking in circles,
While doubting the very ground beneath me

Some of the plot lines are jumbled up, so that's not strictly true. Serenity makes Firefly look a bit dodgy though, what with its high production values. Wasn't massively impressed all told.

It's safe to go back to watching House now, at least for the last few episodes - they've written Charlyne Yi's character more into the background now, so she's no longer capable of ruining an entire episode on her own.

They have a thing for switching females in House, which I always found mildly annoying. However it never really bothered me until Charlyne Yi came along with that horrible, whining voice. It almost ruined House completely - and in the last season no less.

    Cause I'm a good girl.
  • It was a fairly desperate and cynical case of trying to bring in a younger demographic. She's not even an actress.
