I think that Bored To Death is probably the best sitcom on TV right now, but honestly i don't know what people who don't smoke weed see in it. It's a show about stoners, made by stoners, for stoners. It's brilliant in that context but I don't understand how it has any wider appeal.

I was really happy with the second season of Eastbound & Down. It's simultaneously brilliant satire and lowbrow ingenuity. Better than the first season, I'd say.

I second the recommendation for Party Down. That show was fantastic while it lasted.

Dexter's pretty good, but it kind of peaked with the second season I think.

I tried watching Boardwalk Empire but really I just kind of thought it was boring. Gave up after three episodes.

The Walking Dead's been great so far.

I'm so burned out on zombies that I don't feel like there's anyway I could enjoy it. Can someone please pinpoint to me the moment that zombies started becoming such a part of popular culture?

I've seen pretty much every zombie movie evah, but this is the first time I've seen any serious attempts at pathos or characterisation within the genre (except maybe in 28 Weeks Later).

Danny Boyle doing a zombie movie was absolutely the reason they went mainstream - here was a respected director, turning his hand to a genre that - barring a couple of Romero's films - had always seemed a bit low-rent and grubby.

  • Nobody plays dress-up here. But I love that there's loads of money in zombie productions these days. I'm pretty sure I willed it to happen as a child. I certainly wanted big-budget ninja films. That never really happened.

I stopped watching Dexter in the middle of season 3 too. It was shit for a while. Then I heard that John Lithgow was the villain in season 4 and coming back for that was so worth it.

I was skeptical about The Walking Dead when I heard about it too but it really is quite well done.

  • Only TV shit I watch nowadays is CSI and wrestling, really.

Last recent show I watched was probably Spartacus: Blood and Sand, BY JUPITER'S COCK IN ASS. It was a'ight, filthy as fuck though.

Skins, Hollyoaks, Spooks. It's just shit.

I used to like Skins, but it really is a horrible show. Has anyone ever seen the "For British Eyes Only" episode of Arrested Development? That whole arc with Charlize Theron - that is what Skins is. I'm Michael Bluth and Skins is the Mentally Retarded Female.

I am currently into Six Feet Under, Misfits, Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, and Real Housewives of Atlanta. Long time loves are Golden Girls, Absolutely Fabulous, Living Single, and Freaks and Geeks. My relationship with True Blood is on life support.

I think that's what the American version is. The mirror that shows us what's really there.

That was then, this is dumb.

Misfits - I've heard good things about that. Any good? Or so bad it's good?

You also just reminded me about The Inbetweeners - which is the first British comedy I've laughed at since Peep Show. Very funny, totally adolescent, and perfectly captures the mum-cuss like no other series before it. It's pretty much the antithesis of Skins - if you ever listened to Stewart Lee's criticism of that show, namely that as a teenager it would have made him feel more alienated and alone - it's as if the makers of The Inbetweeners had been listening. It's awkward, fumbly and embarrassing, just like teenagers should be.

  • I genuinely like Misfits. Give it a try. At least three episodes.

I did a quick skim on The Inbetweeners and now I must find it and watch it. Another show to add to my list? Dammit.

  • Try and get beyond the first episode with that as well - and it's one of those shows that's much funnier when you're watching with someone else. Preferably beered up.

The only series i sort of still follow on tv is "Salkkarit", a finnish soap opera. I've been watching it on and off since childhood. The 2000th episode was last week and it was super nostalgic. And a hot guy fell off a balcony and died. Only he didn't and is now on life support with brain damage. Just when things were finally going well for him... what a tragedy.

No love for Community? It might be the best comedy on television right now (at least until Parks and Rec comes back from hiatus).

Community is redefining sophomore slump. This season has been really, really weak.

Nothing has surpassed the paintball episode from last season [Modern Warfare] or Mafia episode [Modern American Poulty] but season two has held up fairly well. Their spin on a zombie movie [Epidemiology], Mean Girls-riff [Aerodynamics of Gender] with an excellent Secret Garden b-story, and bottle episode [Cooperative Calligraphy] have all been stellar. The replayability and intense fan service are what keep me watching. It's a bit like Venture Bros in that way.

It's like the venture bros except without any interesting references.

It's like if a copy of billboard magazine wrote the venture bros

Ok, Green Wing, anyone? There was a good comedy show.

Did anyone watch Sensitive Skin? Very good melancholic black comedy.

  • Has anyone ever teared up during a particularly riveting TV program? Don't be embarrassed I won't tell anyone.

  • I cried at the end of Lost. Sorry guys.

  • Bulgaria's Abandoned Children. So sad ;_;

    And this:

  • three likeable characters in such an agonizing position, ugh that scene.

the scene from the second to last episode of Breaking Bad S2 (you know it if you saw it) was maybe not tear-inducing, but easily the most shock and emotional anxiety I've felt in a tv show
