Good cause I was ready to get really mad and say serious stuff about a New York Times columnist .

No one wants me to post serious stuff.
I'd actually probably be interested in what you have to say, because either I totally agree with you and we can be pals or I don't and then it's going to be a throwdown. But, yea, this most likely isn't the appropriate place for that conversation.

The University of Rochester's Open Letter Press, which specializes in contemporary fiction in translation, published The Mighty Angel last year--if I recall correctly, a professor at Indiana University translated it.

The book was ok, an interesting take on addiction and change mapped onto the process of writing fiction--there's a certain comfort in familiarity that fiction writers overcome. The book also had its entertaining moments. Nothing spectacular, but I'm glad I read it.

Wow, I didn't know it's translated. I haven't read it in Polish though. Was it any good? (I tried Pilch's first two novels but couldn't finish them. However his commentaries in press are usually pretty cool.)

@DickFlex, I had no idea Pilch's books made as far as USofA. Then again, he's one of best paid writers here, so dunno why am I surprise.

I don't remember starting this thread.

    Sorry.

    I do remember DickFlex.

  • Someone actually asked me not too long ago if I had read any good books that had come out recently. The only answer I could give was the various commentaries that come out on various sutras and shastras but I doubt those interest many people.

I guess not many people flock to the "New Releases" section of a book store.
