• Godspeed, General.

  • I couldn't afford to put the Chinese food my friend and I tried to order on my credit card (can't wait to get a real one without such an incredibly pathetic limit) so I'm eating some "Thai" noodles I picked up for $1 a while back. The kind you eat straight from the box and was supposed to be best by December. It's one of the saddest things I've ever consumed.

That was then, this is dumb.
  • White pepper smells like an elephant enclosure.

  • You've never been to the zoo? Sort of stale straw mixed with age-old piss and dung.

    I was really surprised.

if anything has been made irrelevant by the internet, it's cook books

  • Some of the publishing houses can be quite stringent on people reproducing them though. I just picked out a random recipe from this - Epigram Lamb - you'll find loads of sites listing it, but they all seem to have had the recipes taken down.

  • I'm making chicken tikka masala because I realized there's an Indian grocery store less than a mile away from me so I buy things like garam masala cheaply. But ugh, I hate cooking meat. I'd do it so much more if it didn't require so much prep work - god knows I can decide to make something and defrost the meat ahead of time. Then even if I do that, completely unfrozen chicken is so much harder to cut with my shitty knives. And now I won't even get to eat it any time remotely soon because I'm having to marinate it. Sigh.

That was then, this is dumb.
  • Anyone ever try a grilled cheese sandwich with apples? I've heard good things but I don't want to waste my cheddar. By "cheddar" I mean cheese but also money.

i have a really basic plain muffin recipe that i just alter with whatever i'm feeling

just use any old muffin recipe, like that you'd use for a muffin with chocolate chips or blueberries or what have you, but instead grate an apple or two and some cheddar, then put some cheddar on top of each muffin before ya bake it

    no tricks, pretty straightforward

  • Nice, that shouldn't be too hard. I'm definitely gonna make a small batch. The sandwich, too.

  • sliced apple with melted cheddar on a cracker is pretty good too.

  • I didn't do this on purpose, but for breakfast at the market just now I had a brioche roll with gruyere and spiced apple - the apple was a total surprise, and all the stranger having read this thread this morning. I wouldn't voluntarily have mixed the two things together, but it totally works.

  • I just bought thirty quid's worth of steak on a whim. I think I may need to freeze some of it. Even if I don't eat anything else for the next week, which is really tempting.

  • 1. Grilled cheese with green apples is surprisingly delicious

    2. I made muffins today

    EVERYONE NEEDED TO KNOW THIS.

  • On a whim, I just poured sweet chai tea over some porridge and had it with some raisins. It was delicious. I've since googled and apparently lots of people have come to this. It's an actual thing.

  • Raisins tho
