How 'bout them Broncos? It's the Elitists' Sports Thread!!!

  • as a giants fan
why the fuck is Eli Manning in the pro bowl?

  • Giants are going down down down down down. No Plexiglass and no more relaxed coverage on Hixon and Smith. Without Plexiglass soaking up double coverage Eli is gonna have a hell of a time finding recievers open, espically in the red zone. If I was a Giants fan (Which I sure as hell am not) I would be praying that "Earth, Wind and Fire" can carry the load for them.

  • This morning my Dad asked me if the Rangers won their late game last night out west. He hates hockey, well at least he used to.

I wonder if my interest in hockey is making him see the light. The only reason I never watched hockey until college was because Dad never watched it at home, so I never really got to appreciate it until living away from home.

If I ever catch him watching a hockey game, then I'll know for sure.

I hate the Australian cricket team. Petulant, self-righteous bunch of cheats.

  • Flyers - 7 Caps -1. Fucking spankage, Niitty didn't just stand on his head, he floated on it (47/48 saves). Harty hat trick baby, fuck the Caps and fuck swan diving Ovechkin

There was a whole section bought out in the upper level by Caps fan, the whole game it was just either: START THE BUS / FUCK THE CAPS or by the end of the game REDSKINS SUCK. Don't bring little kids to the upper level.

Je-sus. Baseball needs a sallary cap. The Yankees shelling out $400 million to sign free agent players recently was just ridiculous.

I like how the Yankees had to offer C.C 40 million more than any other team. The funny thing is I don't think the Yankees are that much better than last year (they still are not favorites to win the division).

But yeah, it sucks watching the Yankees giving AJ Burnett a billion dollars while the DBacks can't afford to pay Big Unit four million dollars to get win 300 and retire as a DBack.

josh byrnes is setting the diamondbacks to be 2004 bad.

  • Flyers are gonna keep losing until Kimmo's all fixed up. Which sucks.

And Hartnell now has a broken toe. Fuck.

Well, at least we still have Justin Upton, Webb, and Haren. The winner of the NL West could be below .500 this year

  • Holy crap the Eagles actually still have a real chance at making it into the playoffs.

Baseball does have a salary cap of sorts. The Yankees have to pay a $27 Million luxury tax to the commissioners' office every year because they go over it.

Baseball's isn't even a salary cap at all. There is no set limit or "ceiling", so teams like the Yankees and Red Sox can spend well above $100 million to stock up on top players.

Also, it is amusing to know that the Yankees' luxury tax of their $220 million payroll was just about $27 million, and that is also about the total payroll of the Florida Marlins. That shows just how disproportionate spending is in the MLB.

  • yeah but guys c'mon it's the Yankees. I mean, do you really expect the greatest city IN THE WORLD to have a shitty baseball team, THE sport of America? New York would lose all the respect it has all over the world if the Yankees EVER had a below .500 season.

  • Oh and I'll tell you how those Broncos are, they're fucking pathetic.

The thing about creating a salary cap in the MLB is that then I would have no one to cheer against. :(

  • It is fun to hate the evil empire of baseball

  • fuck da haterz

even if my yanks spend 1 billion to sign the city of atlanta to its baseball team, they're gonna be hard-pressed to even get out of the ALDS, if they make it

Why didn't I realize that the Winter Classic was in Chicago this year until yesterday? I wish the cheapest tickets weren't $300.
