I think you should go through every artist on last.fm and add them alphabetically.

Also, the jazz/avant-garde folks need to chip in. This shouldn't be wholly a Butt Buddy list.

I just don't understand the point of doing this. What is the point of this list?

  • I think we all know how much this group loooooves lists

  • Labels:
    Kranky
    Ninja Tune
    Hydrahead
    Ipecac
    Warp
    Southern Lord

Nice, the group's connection list is already looking better. I think we still could use some more picks from the jazz/avant camp like Cat said.

StDio, Collin Newman couldn't be found on Last.fm.

  • I suck at spelling things: Colin Newman

Again, I'd contribute a bit, if someone would bother to explain what the point of this list is besides, "Hey, here is a list of what we like to listen to if you can't be bothered to just look at our charts."

When we connect to an artist or label, our group appears in the group section of that artist. It is a way of promoting the group to potential members. Simply having an artist on our group charts does not accomplish that. I guess you can take the position of "why should we promote this group? fuckers should find us" but we are already connected to artists, so might as well make them the best.

Maybe we should put the group connections to a vote?

    Oh. Ok.

I suppose I'm kind of leaning to your "fuckers shoud find us" option now that you put it that way.

In any case, I'd think it would make more sense to whittle artist connections down to a select, eclecticly chosen few rather than throw every band we mildly like on the damn thing. That's just me thinking out loud, though.

There were quite a few artists connected already before I started this thread. So it wasn't like this was a dramatic change to the connected artists. I thought we could improve upon the list a bit, which in my opinion, we have greatly.

  • I'm coming to this discussion a little late but as a recent "joiner" I want to mention that artist/label connections played no part in my choice to apply for membership. I came to this group via the members in this group (Beelz and Dickflex in particular). When I discover a "Last" inhabitant whose taste and listening experience I respect and admire I check to see what groups they belong to. Simply put: TME was common to both people, I was curious, I applied. I'd be interested to find out how everyone came to this group.

I think the members of the group are the most effective advertisement for the group.

Okay, so apparently there is a limit to having a certain amount of artists connected for a group. We just maxed out, with the Eels being the last artist connected.

  • Did you eliminate the ones we suggested?

I figured out how to do this properly.

Eliminate: everything on the list right now

    Add: Insane Clown Posse

Thirded. And I'm totally serious. Let people know bright and early what they're getting involved in if accepted.

Ya know, I don't even remember how I found this group. I did not know any of you when applying, and when I had no idea what group Generalmalaise was talking about when he congratulated me on being accepted. I think I must have been on the blokc for a while or something, because I had no recollection of applying. And there were only three members that I had at least "high" compatibility with, so I really have no clue why I applied, or how I found this group.

Glad I did, though, that's for sure.
