Symphonic Rock was pioneered in the late 60s by bands such as The Moody Blues with Days of a Future Passed, being one of the first symphonic rock pieces to come out.
Today, it encompasses bands from many depths of rock and metal, the lighter end encompassing bands like Evanescence and Within Temptation.
In the middle of the spectrum, we have symphonic metal bands like Nightwish and Symphony X.
At the extreme end of symphonic rock we have black metal bands such as Emperor, Anorexia Nervosa, and Dimmu Borgir being symphonic metal.
Connections are to artists that have been classified as symphonic rock or symphonic metal.
