  that's always the same critical comment. and i must confess, i used it for myself shouting in other group boxes. but it's not real, and it's not fair to a group of 400 people. it only takes a minority of group members to reflect some mainstream artists in the weekly group charts. i came to understand that a group on last.fm can only be a means, a helpful tool or ideally a community for music lovers to refine their taste.

  ? this is ridiculous. i love a lot of what you guys call "sophisticated", but this group is just an excuse for you guys to feel superior to other people. i consider myself to have good musical taste, but i don't think i am a better person than others who listen to pop music or something i don't like. whoever runs this group: get a life!

  i understand, so please let me say: it's not only Morton Feldman who is disconnected but also J.S. Bach, Eric Dolphy, Alban Berg, etc. etc. -- why? this group is not about worshipping specific artists, it's not about if a specific artist whose music we appreciate is officially connected at this moment or not. we have *rotating* artist connections: the group is not confined to 200 "group artists". 200 fixed artists don't define sophisticated taste. members can research a lot more music during the year, and the group is visible at different places. still, all once connected artists remain in our group radios, in this case: http://www.last.fm/listen/user/S_Taste0901/personal. and i considered your shout as a recommendation and added Morton Feldman to our ST Members Rec Radio (see link above).

  @cheruj: your question "how does the group take into account a particular member's changing music habits/ progression of musical taste? over a week or even over years?" <-- not at all. if you're a member, you can stay forever. group quality is managed by accepting new applicants, not by kicking out members whose listening habits change. life goes on.

  @hanaakari: you made me curious and you're right, i only know 20% of your library of around 60 artists. but what's the point? i don't measure taste. i accept or reject members to this group. that simple.
