I'm pretty sure it is technically possible, because there as an add-in for the squeezebox which plays soma fm channels and scrobbles them to last.fm ...

    Don't look so surprised

    Songbird scrobbling for soma.fm

I recently discovered Songbird for Mac OS X, the "firefox of media players". I like it because it will handle Ogg Vorbis streams, and it works with the iTunes library, and it integrates last.fm support via a plugin.

This might be a one of the most promising candidates for getting Soma.fm scrobbling support.

hi there people. i'm new here, but still i can share some wisdom about scrobbling streams.

first of all, to scrobble soma use foobar2000. guaranteed result at ver 0.9.6.9.

    here's step by step manual.

    1. download foobar from the original web-site
    2. audioscrobbler for last.fm can be found in the addons area
    3. activate audioscrobbler - you know login|password stuff
    4. then run foobar2000: File - > Preferences -> Audioscrobbler -> Submit Tracks From dynamic sources mark a tick.
    5. and the last but not the least: File - > Preferences -> Enable dynamic track titles so it can recognize streaming Artist-Title stuff

i must notice that foobar plugin for last.fm doesn't provide any user interface and artist info you accustomed, but it scrobbles soma.fm correctly.

you can check it out on my profile page. Now listening to Secret Agent Station.

    Even easier.

    1. Buy a Squeezebox.
    2. Download the SomaFM app.
    3. Start listening!

Tracks are scrobbled if you have set up a last.fm account and you have activated scrobbling.

Hmmm.. Amarok submits my SOMA listens, and they are visible on my profile for a bit, but then they get removed again :S

I guess that means Last.fm doesn't want me to scrobble SOMA? Or is something else going on?

You don't need the SomaFM app. Just copy the url to your favorites and you are ready to go.

If soma is not scrobbled because "listeners have no control over what is played", then why is the last.fm radio scrobbled?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Ok, thanks to this thread, I managed to make foobar scrobble soma.fm :) that's awesome. I never used foobar and I prefer Winamp, but for radio now I will always use foobar :D

May I ask how you made it? the last.fm app only gets the title of the radio and ocmplains about track lenght.

  • the latest foobar works just fine
install > dl latest foo audioscrobbler copy to components
    then open Foobar
File > Preference > Tools > Audioscrobbler and the rest is self explanatory if anybody still cares.

In my opinion foobar is way better than winamp. So far I haven't come accross any other music player which would support all the functions which I need (last.fm scrobbling, iPod support, folder.jpg album art, digsby now playing, last.fm charts, lyrics show, biography server and now even soma.fm scrobbling).

Or using the newest Foobar 2000 solves the problem :-)

Thanks for the headsup, I didn't realize there was an audioscrobbler plugin for foobar2000. It's my preferred media player anyway, especially for internet radio like soma.

Look out honey 'cause I'm usin' technology.
Ain't got time to make no apologies.
  • Radium

Radium (Mac) is a nifty streaming radio player, and it scrobbles songs as they are played http://www.catpigstudios.com/

  • Scrobbling Soma.fm on Android

On Android devices it's possible to scrobble tracks from Soma.fm (or any else internet radio) in Xiia Live (or Xiia Live Lite) application. Note that official Last.fm app is required.

You can also scrobble Soma.fm with Clementine, which is available for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. And it's free and open source!

The audioscrobbler documentation says that the plugin isn't supposed to submit tracks that come from internet streams, because the user doesn't have control over what is played and what isn't.

By that logic, last.fm radios shouldn't scrobble either.

So, does anyone know if the android app scrobbles?

Seconded, Clementine is awesome. Using it on my Apple and Linux computers and it scrobbles Soma just fine. It adds each track when the track finishes.
