Quicksand Jesus?

  • Quicksand Jesus?

Anyone know what the lyrics of Quicksand Jesus are about? I know that Wasted Time is about a drug addict, the raging horse being a metafore of heroin or something so i was wondering if Quicksand Jesus has some similar meaning, not of drugs maybe, but something? Like who, or rather what is the Quicksand Jesus? Haven't quite figured it out.

  • It kinda goes about faith and nature I think.

Lets see who's behind the rain Jesus Christ is about saving your soul from damnation before it's to late. But in the case of Quicksand Jesus is about saving there own souls from damnation the group Skid Row. That we love so much.

*Edit* Oh And I forgot the virgin is Mother Mary Sebastian Bach is Catholic I think.

I don't know I was watching the video just now and I don't think I can grasp the meaning either now. The video and the lyric's I guess tell two different story's.

  • I've no idea what you guys meant by those comments :D but yeah, it's really difficult to make out any meaning behind the words especially after watching the video.

Once i'm a huge star doing nothing but big stadium gigs i'm gonna ask Baz :D

No, really, anyone who has any idea what the words might mean please tell me

  • I think "Quicksand Jesus" is a metaphore of Bach's longing for something superficial. It's like he needs something in his life of more importance than just doing music and stuff.

    About Quicksand Jesus.

I will try to help here people.

    First off its about Faith.
It was written by Rachel and Snake.

This is what Rachel had to say about it.

    " A labor of Love.
The Gulf War was raging and we were as confused as anyone that grew up during peacetime. Checking into a hotel in the early morning I was channel surfing and saw a clip from the video. I was psyched only to find out it was the "700 club" with Pat Robertson. He claimed that the song was saying that " Faith in GOD was an Illusion."
Nothing could be further from what we were thinking when we wrote this. "

from the C.D 40 seasons the best of Skid Row.

I hope this helps to clear up any confusion.

My advice to you is to make it your own and let it apply to your own life, it can really mean whatever you want it to. However that is what its about as far as the guys go.

Sebastian was raised i think in the Anglican church. Which is cool because it's the one i grew up in as well.

Rachel and Snake are devout Roman Catholics however.

I love the spiritual feel to this song, its my favorite ballad on the album, and my favorite song period on Slave. It ushered in the guys writing about their faith and spirituality in the lyrics, which continues to this day.Plus its one the most beautiful and deeply profound ballads they ever wrote.

    Here's some help

I think this page is pretty dead on, it's a combination of seeing how we've gotten away from the root of faith, and people who don't seem to look for Jesus until the last minute...

Here is my propaganda! Let's vote for Quicksand Jesus on this site => http://www.starfm.bg/
Skid Row were nominated on Tuborg Daily Rock, so we have to win today (06.04.2010)! The Tuborg daily rock thing is there if you go down the cursor, it's in Bulgarian but I hope that you can see where the name of the song is written!

It's about all the stupid people that are sucked in and willing to die for jesus. Quicksand Jesus = SUCKED IN! If you've believe in Jesus, you've been sucked in. It has to be abiguous, otherwise all the Americans (who are completely sucked in to the whole God thing and willing to die for the invisible man in the sky) won't buy their records. Great song boys. Yo've got em farked!
