Who's looking forward to Shattered Memories?

...Because I am seriously skeptical.

If you haven't heard, Shattered Memories is a "reimagining" of the original game being produced by Climax. No a remake. A 'reimagining'. Basically, they're stealing the idea of Harry, Cybil and Cheryl and throwing them into a whole new set of storylines that they say may or may not be canon the series. Talk about playing it safe.

I'm starting to wonder if there will be any good news about this title at all.

I am. It will be also on teh PS2, which means many people will have the chance to play it (me included). Still I understand your scepticism, but hell we are fanboys aren't we ?

yeah, heard about it, but thought it's gonna be just a remake. hm, maybe it'd better be... cause after so much of a storyline in Homecoming i doubt it can be anything more breathtaking than in the first installements. but what the heck, i'm gonna play it anyway!

me too but no silent team no great silent hill
most of us play the game cause we had great experience in first 3 games and we continue playing it :D
whenever i play silent hill it reminds me The Guinea Pig films :D
face it they can't create anything new this game made by Japanese team( Japanese people =Japanese culture) imagine American team create final fantasy WTF!!the first thing they put in the game will be spaceship ,galaxy, stars and aliens .

Let's not beat around bush, it's going to be bloody awful.
The only reason it's being made is so they can flog it to the new generation of gamers who would've heard about Silent Hill from Zero Punctuation or something, decided it was the best game series evar because they were told it was. So now they can play this re-run, which can only be shoddy in its very nature, so they can act like they know it all.
It's not even fan service anymore, it's pure money grabbing. Tell me I'm wrong, I dare you.

I am not really excited about it as much as I am curious. It will probably be like Homecoming and Origins, in the sense that I'll buy it out of desperation for a new SH title and just end up disappointed. I hope they prove me wrong, but unless Team Silent gets back together to make games again, that's highly unlikely.

I've heard that there's not going to be any combat system at all. It's truth, that combat have never been the most important aspect of SH, but why cancel it completely?
And I don't like the new design of Harry and the idea of him having "touch-phone" instead of good 'ol radio. Seems like SM is going to get modernized and I don't think that's a good idea...

And why PS2, not PS3? I mean I appretiate it, since I don't own PS3, but the fact that they want to develop it on dying console seems a little strange to me.

Still, I love SIlent Hill, and just can't wait to see how this game will turn out to be.

@KoRnish-san - the game is originally developed for Wii, the PS2 is only a port. And as Wii and PS2 are comparable and games can be easily ported between the two consoles, the PS3 is far more superior in technological terms. The PS3 version would need to be completely revised, especially the graphics.

I'll give it a try at least because there are not a lot of ps2 games these days (and because i'm a fanboy). But i'm seriously skeptical too and I simply don't see where is the point of doing "reimagining" of THAT game for ps2 and the wii (which is hardly a next gen at all). I mean - the new Siren for the ps3 is an excelent example of how they could've done it.

Check out thhe short gameplay on youtube. It's a recording of the E-3 demo and runs on aobut 20 minutes. I haven't been keen on the game, but now I can't wait to at least try it.

Isn't that the new Wii remake? I was reading about it a while back...I'd say it'd be cool to play on the Wii (which I don't have) but otherwise it's just another step towards the brutal murder of a once-flawless series.
Let's face it - the series probably isn't going to get any better, and the authenticity and unique experience is only going to become more diluted with every passing sequel, or movie, or remake, or whatever.
That said, the game itself could be decent - but there's no way it's going to compare to the original.
Well, I'll save further ranting for another thread :)

I don't get this whole ice theme and characters reimagining (Dahlia portrayed as a hooker, wtf?) but I like idea of escaping and hiding from enemies, though.
