Tough one...I like deep purple's solos better but I listen to sabbath more, sort of like the overall sound better.

Sabbath, no doubt.. in sabbath we trust.. :)

  • Zeppelin ofc, no question about it. Sure sabbath and deep purple are good but come on, Led Zeppelin rocks.

  • My head just exploded trying to decide. but Zeppelin wins...hands down. Zeppelin is like whiskey, makes ya wanna fight, f@#k and cry. And I love that.

  • Sabbath no doubt. In Sabbath we trust. Now, doesn't that sound familiar :)

  • What about, Iommi vs. Blackmore vs. Page..

There's nothing better than Led Zeppelin. Sabbath is fuc*ing great band too. Purple isn't included to my favorite bands but unlike rap "music", I can listen Purple without screaming from pain ;)

Sry. I don't speak or write good English.

edit: You should try Rainbow. It's bit like Deep Purple. I prefer it :)

  • How do you even decide whos best.

Zeppelin, Sabbath and Purple are all great bands. Zep and Sab are both better than purple, but cant decide on whos best out of Zep and Sabbath.

Guitar wise id think Blackmore is the most technical out of the 3. Page is better than Iommi, but Iommi is the master of hard rock riffs.

  • 1)Zep for variety and re-introducing everyone to ol' blues numbers.
2)Sabbath for solid riffs and inventing the genre.
3)Purple for the being best r&b band in the world.

Wot about Tommy Bolin? - listen to him on Billy Cobham's Spectrum. The thing about Blackmore is that he was so spot-on technically excellent, that his solos just aren't exciting. He just plays the notes in the right place. If you saw him live, he looked pretty bored himself! Page and Iommi are tight but all over the place. That gives them an edge.

Love peace and truth incorporated for all who seek

These bands are all great. It's difficult to choose one.

I think Deep Purple is best (my view) because DP have most all-round music. Great hard rock tracks, with great solos, emotional tracks and many good progressive tracks.

And maybe I like Led Zeppelin more than Black Sabbath.

  • easy one!
1, Led Zeppelin 2, Deep Purple 3, Black Sabbath

reasons? bonham and jones were the rythm kings no one can rock like jon lord!

  • I'm back with a decision...several months later...
Sabbath. And i cant decide who's second...
    but guitarist-wise
    IOMMI WOULD WIN!!!!!!!!!
    Then Blackmore.
    Then Page...

Hmmm... They're all great, I like Purple's mind-blowing organ solos, like in Child in Time and on the other hand heavier Sabbath riffs. For me. they're both no. 1 :)

BTW, Hi all, I'm new in this group :)

    As for the guitarist:

    1. IOMMI (he is the one, the catchiest riffs ever, I love his downtuned, overwhelming, deep sound ... his solos are great as well)

you can join Iommi club here:
    http://www.last.fm/group/Mr.+Tony+Iommi

    2. BLACKMORE (I just love his classical and medieval etc. influences)
    3. PAGE (I love him, but he did just heavier blues standart ...)

    And for the bands:

    1. Black Sabbath
    2. Led Zeppelin
    3. Deep Purple

But what about Uriah Heep, Blue Cheer etc. The are from the same era nad they made music of similar qualities...

All these bands are probably teh best music ever to me...
