I Am a Republican Because . . .
I believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
I believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
I believe free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
I believe government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
I believe the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.
I believe the most effective, responsible and responsive government is the government closest to the people.
I believe Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
I believe Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
Finally, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

    I've been rooting for Bachmann. Heard interviews and positions of her in the legislature on the radio. She's fizzled out a lot. Been loving all the GOP debates. Fun stuff.

    Phlunked you don't know what you're talking about. The reason why Reagan didn't start any wars is because he was a pussy, he'd talk shit and then back down. He did this time and time again in Latin America, and eventually started funding proxy-wars in Latin America with cocaine markets in the United States. Look up the original Rick Ross and his networking with Reagan supported anti-Marxist rebels in Latin America. But beyond that the 1980's were not very peaceful. A lot of reasons we're fighting now is because conflicts that weren't solved in the 1980's; Libya (remember when Reagan tried to kill Gdhaffi?), the break up of the Yugoslavia during George H.W. Bush, Egypt, which we originally started funding to establish the state of Israel and then used them to supply Afghan rebels, not to mention Georgia and Russia, and Iran which Reagan cut back room deals with to win the election against Jimmy Carter and to sell weapons to once again fund his anti-Marxist death squad "rebels".

    Really? First time running into it here. I always thought they went with calling America, when it acts in self-defense or in defense of allies, war mongering imperialists. I think the problem with the Left is that they view war, and terrorism as well, as just people killing themselves mercilessly and pointlessly and they'll miss the abstract on why wars occur. Wars are a battle of conflicting ideas and values. To the postmodern Left, who see all ideas, values, and cultures as valid, war to them is alien. Both sides should stop it and come out to an agreement, but this is disconnected with the reality of the war and the main conflict. Wars only end when one side cedes and loses. The banner that both sides have can be tacked with rights and wrongs. Oftentimes, it's a battle between two despotic ideas. [br] But, I believe, America's revolution is one of the greatest experiment of an idea and a pinnacle of human achievement. Liberty through Rule of Law and property rights.

    vinny, u watch too much NBC. Republicans are all about the working man. They keep taxes low so businesses can afford to hire people. When taxes are dumped all over citizens, their businesses arent profitable and they must RAISE PRICES and LAY OFF people. This is called economic crisis, unemployment. Get it? I know you're a dem and do not understand the whole "working" thing, but people have their jobs because of business owners. Therefore, raising taxes hurts jobs. This is why unemployment keeps going UP, because the latest fiasco bill didn't do one thing to help the economy or create any jobs.
