King Crimson VS. Porcupine Tree

  • King Crimson VS. Porcupine Tree

    It is a fun Thread
For me definitly King Crimson album like In the Court of the Crimson King or Power to Believe are GREAT!!!
Of course I know from Porcupine Tree a few albums and I like them but it is more music to relax and not so complex like King Crimson I wpuld say

    King Crimson

    Hands down, King Crimson....

  • King Crimson
Porcupine Tree songs are very pleasant to ear but King Crimson is true magic (Epitaph, Moonchild- amazing atmosphere)

    King Crimson, in my opinion.

Lizard, In The Court Of The Crimson King and The Power To Believe are awesome!!!

You may know what I don't know
But not that I don't know it
So you will have to tell me all

King Crimson with Fripp's hands tied behind his back can beat Porcupine Tree in any comparison. I don't even see how this is debatable.

  • hmm...this is reallyclear to me
    King Crimoson - Porcupine Tree 1 - 0

  • I love Steve Wilson and all the stuff he's done (both in and out of PT) and the fact that he still tours while RF won't let KC out of the stables ever again.

But it's got to be King Crimson every time.

King Crimson. Not only is their best better than Porcupine Tree, but their vast body of quality work is overwhelming.

Having said that, I like Porcupine Tree a lot too.

So, you guys would like to hear KC without RF playing guitar? How bizarre.

Don't reply to that - I'm just being facetious.

But, here we go, if it was the most recent version of KC without RF versus the most recent version of PT without SW, which would you prefer?

  • Still KC. You've still got Belew, Mastelotto and Levin there. Porcupine Tree would not be much without Wilson.

  • I also think KC

  • lolz that was fast....

    yeah King Crimson ftw

Sure, King Crimson > Porcupine Tree

ITCOTCK is just an amazing album, epitaph and the title track are so atmospheric, PT can't beat them...

As far as i know KC's music (ie very few), i would say Porcupine Tree.

Anyway it's imo hard to compare two things which aren't of the same nature...

  • Porcupine Tree kicks King Crimsons arse.

    Moe, moe, kyun!
  • Two incomparible bands. King Crimson can't be compared to a modern prog band, it just doesn't happen like that. Their career is too long, successful, and stacked to begin comparing it to any modern prog band.

  • but I think with an album like Power to Believe King Crimson sounds like an modern prog band so they have changed with every album
and that is why KC is so great

  • King Crimson, no doubt about it.

Easy, King Crimson. My favourite prog band. In The Court Of The Crimson King and Larks' Tongues In Aspic are classics. Well, just about everything they do is.
