A friend of mine and I are crazy about music. We both love indie, folk, hip-hop, punk, electronica, and pretty much every genre under the sun so long as it's good. We have dozens of albums (two of our favorites being Hurry Up, We're Dreaming by M83 and Love Will Ruin by Neverending White Lights), but none of them fit the description of what we're looking
This is going to sound strange, but we were wondering if any musical act today has ever put out an album that would sound similar to a modern day bard. Lutes, electric sounds maybe, drums, a story in the lyrics, or even some kind of mixture to those listed elements.
I'm not even sure if we want to listen to this regularly or not. I think we're more curious to see if that kind of music from medieval lore still exists and if it has been kept up to date.
So, any recommendations?
PS: I asked here because I LOVE pitchfork and figured its users would never dare recommend me anything generic.
