Newcomer of the month ...
Stanton Warriors ...
Night Mover ... The Stanton Session
One way or another you’ve probably already come into contact with the Stanton Warriors. For some time it’s most likely it was underfoot as the market leader in drain covers. In recent years though, it’s more likely to be from one of the most popular and distinctive dance DJ, production and remix outfits about, Mark Yardley & Dominic B - the Stanton Warriors.
From the less than sleepy farms and fields of their native West Country, Dom and Mark have grown into one of the most prolific DJ acts in the world, burgeoning label bosses, and major producers on the global dance scene. It’s a long way from the strange seismic rumblings of the South West but the enthusiasm and feelings behind what they’re up to haven’t changed too much…
Dominic B and Mark Yardley received their baptism in a burgeoning dance scene, at a 100 impromptu parties in the open air of the West Country where in the lost hours and days, they enjoyed a thriving deep house scene, laced with breaks, funk and hip hop, influences that were to play a huge part in characterising the direction of the boys own production. The focus of things centred on Bristol where Dom directed his efforts into a local record shop and promoting his own parties in the time between actually enjoying the parties, basically putting as many fingers into as many pies as were within reach.

"Some bands are exactly what they say they are. The Brooklyn Funk Essentials are an 11-piece outfit who hail from Brooklyn, have the funk, and, given half a chance, will definitely make you like their music. The opening track has what it takes: dynamic, bustling drum & bass, slick horns, and an uptempo, feel-good vibe. There's a celebratory mix-up of slinky Cuban and gruff Jamaican rhythms called "Mambo Con Dancehall," but the vocal tracks are where the album really kicks off. A couple of members of the Brooklyn Funk Essentials are dub and slam poets, and "Date with My Baby" and "I Got Cash" feature what are quite possibly the best lyrics of 2000. Not only are they very pointed, wickedly funny, and deadly accurate, but they're delivered over slick, boiling-point funk with more cool, suss and style than should be scientifically possible."

FPI Project ....Album : Tell Me Why .... Song : Rich in Paradis (Going back to my roots) ... House, Dance House, Funk ... Hometown : Milano / Italy

The year after, another smashing hit reaches all the most important charts: "Come On (And Do It)".
F.P.I. Project continue their climbing up the house music charts and the hearts of all the clubbers with "Disco This Way" and "Yes, We Could!" in 1995.

In 1994 the F.P.I. Project release once again "Going Back To My Roots '94" with brand new 1994 mixes.
Nowadays there has been a coming back of the group for a huge request especially from the UK audience, doing some great live PAs in Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and many more.
In the meantime the components have been continuing their producing and dj-ing carrier separately as you can see on their single webpages:www.myspace.com/marcofratty; www.myspace.com/intrallazzi; www.myspace.com/corradopresti.
That's where Fratty meets singer Sharon May Linn (www.myspace.com/sharonmaylinn), with whom he will work together on several productions but also in a huge number of dj sets throughout the main italian clubs.
F.P.I. Project decide to pull her in and the actual set up of the group takes form!
They are working on a double cd collection of all the old F.P.I. tracks and will include a brand new original release called "So Everybody"......all will be released on a very important label which still wants to be kept for a big surprise to all F.P.I. fans all over the world!
So stay tuned, for we will update you with all the latest news about this historical band.

The Pirates Jazz Club ... favorite artists of the month
Paul Hardcastle ... Walkin' to Freedom
Album : The Jazzmaster II
In the early 1980s, Hardcastle played keyboards on several singles on the Oval record label by the dance music groups Direct Drive and First Light, before going solo. He achieved some acclaim for his early singles, notably the instrumental, "Rain Forest" (1984), but came to greater prominence in 1985.
In early 1985, the release of the dance hit "19" brought Hardcastle acclaim and chart success. "19" was a straight-forward dance record, featuring stuttering samples of television narrator Peter Thomas speaking about Vietnam war veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (Initially unhappy about having his voice used in this way, Thomas later relented and allowed the single to be released.).
A number one hit single for Chrysalis Records in the United Kingdom for five weeks,[2] the record topped the charts in both France and Germany in two versions, the English language original and an authorised local language alternative. Altogether, it was number one in thirteen countries, selling just under three million copies worldwide.
The UK progressive rock musician Mike Oldfield claimed that a melodic element of "19" had been copied from a sequence of his multi-million selling concept album, Tubular Bells, and a settlement was made. Simon Fuller, who was Hardcastle's manager at the time of "19"'s release later adopted the title for his company, 19 Management.
Hardcastle enjoyed several further hits in the UK, including "Don't Waste My Time" (with vocals by Carol Kenyon) (UK 8) and the now-classic "The Wizard", a UK 15 hit that became the theme tune from BBC Television's Top of the Pops. He also had a hit with "Just For Money", which reached 19 in the UK. Earlier, he had cut a cover version of D-Train's most influential hit "You're the One For Me", segued with his own compositions "Daybreak" and "A.M." Hardcastle also wrote the theme tune for Saturday Live, a popular entertainment show which ran from 1985-1987. He also made the hit single the voyager, which was used for the BBC one program Holiday.
After 1986, Hardcastle started to specialise in television soundtracks and remix work, for artists as such as Five Star, Barry White, Third World, Sinitta, Johnny Logan, Hiroshima and Ian Dury.
Hardcastle has also recorded several synth jazz albums, alternating releases under the artist names The Jazzmasters, and Paul Hardcastle.[1] Working regularly with vocalist Helen Rogers, Hardcastle has recruited several saxophonists including Gary Barnacle (on the first album), Snake Davis, Phil Todd and Tony Woods. All these albums have been played on smooth jazz radio in the United States, where some of the most played tracks include "Northern Lights", "Lost in Space", "Desire", "Shine" and "Serene". In 1988, Hardcastle released the concept album, No Winners, which focuses on the potential negative effects of the Cold War arms race. He won the Billboard Smooth Jazz Artist Of The Year award for 2008.
Ken Navarro ...

album : Love Coloured Soul
Ken Navarro is recognized as one of today's leading Contemporary Jazz guitarists and composers. His impressive discography of 18 top charting albums showcase his appeal to a wide range of listeners with inspiring compositions and superb guitar performances.
Navarro's brand new CD "The Grace of Summer Light" has a national retail release date of June 17, 2008. Ken's 2007 release "The Meeting Place" included 11 new songs with 10 new Navarro compositions plus a superb version of the Pat Metheny classic "Lakes". Ken's previous album, Love Coloured Soul, was released on January 25, 2005. It reached 6 on the national charts and continues to be one of Ken's most successful releases. The release marked Ken’s return to his own record label, Positive Music Records. It contains 10 recordings including a beautiful rendition of Laura Nyro’s classic “Stoned Soul Picnic” and Ken’s gorgeous interpretation of the John Klemmer gem “Glass Dolphins”. Ken’s 2003 release All The Way, and his 2002 CD Slow Dance spawned numerous radio hits including “Bringing Down The House”, “In The Sky Today”, “So Fine” and “Healing Hands”. Ken’s 2000 CD release Island Life scored two hits at smooth jazz radio including "Delicioso," as well as the title track keeping the CD on the airwaves for a solid 52 weeks! 1999's In My Wildest Dreams continues to be one of Ken's top sellers and 1998's live CD & Video Ablaze in Orlando has been acclaimed as one of the best live jazz CDs of the decade. Smooth Sensation, released in 1997, was in the Top 10 of Radio & Records' Smooth Jazz chart for 12 weeks, helping to make the CD the 17 Smooth Jazz album of 1997! Other recent releases from Ken Navarro include his 1996 album, When Night Calls, featuring Eric Marienthal on saxophone, and Christmas Cheer, a holiday album of contemporary jazz guitar and acoustic piano duets.
Ken's 1995 album, Brighter Days, was voted the 9 album of the year by Smooth Jazz radio. Brighter Days heralded a bold step forward for Ken, bringing to the forefront the strong R&B elements that have always been a part of his music, and enlisting a powerhouse of support from featured solo artists including former Rippingtons sax man Brandon Fields. Brighter Days reached the national radio top 5 and held a position in the top 20 for six months in 1995. His 1991 release, After Dark, was selected for screening by the 1991 GRAMMY nominating committee. His successive albums, The Labor of Love (1992), I Can't Complain (1993), and Pride and Joy (1994), all reached the top 5 in national radio, firmly establishing Ken Navarro as a mainstay on Smooth Jazz radio play lists.
Ken began his recording career in Los Angeles as a premier session guitarist, performer and composer, performing and recording with artists as diverse as Doc Severinsen, Nell Carter, John Patitucci, Eric Gale, Vicki Carr, Dave Koz, Ann Jillian and Alex Acuna. In 1990, Ken established his own musical identity with the release of his debut album, The River Flows. With each successive album, Ken has received increasing acclaim and recognition as a leading stylist in Contemporary Jazz. His music is distributed throughout the world from Japan to Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Britain, Australia, Chile, Brazil, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands and even in China. Customized greatest hit collections were recently released in Singapore and Japan.
Ken maintains an active schedule of concert appearances as part of his quartet, the Ken Navarro Group. Highlights of his tour schedule have included appearances at Chene Park in Detroit, Blues Alley in Washington D.C., the World Trade Center site in New York, the Carter Barron Amphitheater in Washington, D.C., Merriweather Post Pavillion in MD, Jacksonville Jazz Fest, Clearwater Jazz Holiday, the Pleasure Island Jazz Fest, the Venetian Festival, the Winter Park Arts Festival, The Thornton Winery, The Spirit Festival in Kansas City and concerts where the group has shared the stage with artists such as Spyro Gyra, Chuck Mangione, Najee, Chris Botti, Eric Marienthal, The Rippingtons, Joe Sample, Jean Luc Ponty, Stanley Clarke/Larry Carlton, George Howard, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Fattburger, Marion Meadows, Keiko Matsui, Nelson Rangell, David Benoit, Alex Bugnon, Boney James and many others.
Ken's contribution to Contemporary and Mainstream Jazz goes beyond his personal artistry. Ken has produced successful albums for Narada/EMI recording artist Eric Darius as well as saxophonist Randy Villars and pianist Jay Rowe to name a few. As founder of Positive Music Records, Ken is responsible for launching and furthering the recording careers of saxophonist Brandon Fields, guitarists Grant Geissman, Thom Rotella and Pat Kelley, and keyboardists Gregg Karukas and Marcus Johnson. Ken's vision of a musician's record label has enhanced the genre with over 35 new artists and seventy releases.

Ken Navarro ...album : Love Coloured Soul
