When genres won't stick.
Krautrock, Industrial, Post-Punk, No-Wave; the list goes on. This attempt at pigeonholing Muzik that cannot be labelled has been a pursuit of Journalists and enthusiasts alike.
The term underground appears to fit; however, as the term gives no hint as to how any band will actually sound, the usual attempts at a “catch all” name for bands and musicians with a “particular” sound will be made. This is tedious, but it can be useful on occasion; although, there is a down side. These terms can result in very regrettable buys from your local Muzik emporium, as well as being a precursor to a given style under a particular “genre”. Avant-Garde doesn’t fit anymore either as, well, what is really Avant-Garde these days?
This group is for Muzik that I feel doesn’t, thankfully, really sit well in any lazily labelled “genre”. For instance, being German and from the early 1970s shouldn’t necessarily render a band “Krautrock”. I suppose you can make subsequent sentences up yourselves.
This group isn't about instigating a debate concerning labelling, although I’m aware that the previous paragraphs suggest just that.
I see it as more akin to finding a home for different strands of underground Muzik that have at least one similar thing in common; a genuine desire for freedom. If these bands have boundaries, then they are self-created.
Plus, although seemingly serious, the finest aspect to these bands and their muzik is a sense of playfullness and, dare I say, fun. This applies more to some than others, and I'm sure they know who they are.
Ultimately though, the creation of this group rests on the fact that I'm a Muzik nerd that was bored on a monday evening.

You might be right there. I'm still going for my theory about global conspiracy of anti-Christ's coming and how Radiohead is a first herald of our doom! People are silently reqruited by radiohead into armies of apocalypse. There are secret handshakes and strange rituals performed in the woods at full moon and if you play Radiohead songs backwards you can here messages from the Satan himself!

In my case it's just the unbelievable popularity of Radiohead in last.fm. It's so big that it makes me wonder if it's conspiracy! You seldom find a group without this headradio on it's charts. For me it's a bit of a joke, really, and I don't have anything particular against them music wise. Once heard OK Computer and it was ok.
