    Hans Zimmer

Hans Zimmer is an awesome composer. (The Lion King and The Last Samurai are 2 of his soundtrack productions)

I highly recommend The Last Samurai soundtrack.

Very true. Just listened to the beach song from true romance... fan-bloomin-tastic.

Also loved what he did with james newton howard for batman begins, and his opera in hannibal

My favorite composer used to be John Williams, but he has been knocked out by Zimmer. The variaty in his soundtracks is just amazing. Black Hawk Down, The Last Samurai, The Ring and now The Da Vinci Code. Simply the best around.

  • It often happens to me that I'm watching a movie, and the music is really amazing. In 3/4 of the cases it turns out to be Hans Zimmers music. This has happened with King Arthur for example.

The opera in Hannibal (which is also used in kingdom of heaven) is not Zimmers :P

    Its by Patrick Cassidy

The Thin Red Line is very underrated. Must be because the movie itself wasn't that successful either. Anyway I'd reccomend that, definitely one of his best. For those of you who haven't seen the movie or heard the music: click here This scene features the 9-minute 'Journey to the Line'

  • Zimmer has, for me, sometimes too much the same style of composing. It makes him too boring for me to be the number one.

some fear death, others pray for it...
  • I completely agree with the previous post. He's not as 'various' as everyone assumes he is. Despite this, I still like some of his work.

Zimmer is going to be new John Williams probably, but he lacks all the style Master JW's got.

While JW goes from Jurassic Park to Catch me if you can, through Schindler's List, Hans Zimmer's got his signature. POTC 3, Last samurai and Gladiator have a lot in common in some themes (is this the word? I speak portuguese...).

He's absolutely great, though. Gladiator, Last Samurai, POTC 3 (and his obvious help in the other two). Black Hawk Down's track 3 Chant is my favorite song of the world.

His music moves me so much. From joyful and adventurous Madagascar to the heartbreaking Last Samurai and Gladiator. And everything in between and from the sides....

I'm glad that through Last.fm I've been able to tune in to "movie", "soundtrack", "composers" etc. tags and get me new favorites too.

In YouTube there are great video compilations of his work.
