• Tech death, melodeath, probably.

  • supprisingly i dislike most Thrash Metal, especialy the older ones such as metallica, judas priest and megadeath (with a few songs in exception) apart from that id have to say Brutal Death Metal, and the only reason for that is i can seldom hear anything over the drums :P in addition MOST Power Metal is pretty lame the music is usualy fine but the vocals and usualy crap (IMO) and jesus crist the lyrics (im suck of hearing about riding dragons into battle, YES THATS YOU DRAGON FORCE) :P

    Metalcore and nu-metal. vomit!

  • Metalcore + Power Metal mostly.

  • Brutal Death (too "greasy" for me) and some black metal. Also grindcore is pretty much shit, and Hair metal (because it's rock, and i dislike rock). Other than that, anything else suits me fine.

Most Nu-Metal, most core, and most Thrash. There's almost always at least ONE band i like in those genre's, but If i had to nix any Metal genres out those are probably the top 3 i wouldn't miss much.

Power metal, heavy metal, glam metal. Anything where the singer sounds like theyre being kicked in the balls throughout the song. Low growls are what i want.

And folk is a no-no. Its just boring.

Black (with a couple exceptions) and Brutal Death

I am cool with some growling to create a mood, so I will listen to some of the 'lighter' bands. But I like it best when it's offset by some clean vocals and/or a strong, clean melody. i like contrast. the Brutal Death stuff... it's just too much, it all starts to sound kinda the same, too, since it's so hard to understand what they're saying.

Also, while I like some bands that do the fantasy thing, if they start blathering on about wizards striking down a dragon with a lightning bolt.... no. This isn't about the sound, it's just I hold fantasy in music to the same standards I would in literature or visual art. It's just way too cliche. Especially if they take it way seriously. It may seem hypocritical of me, since I love stuff like Finntroll and Turisas and I myself draw primarily fantasy art. But one, Finntroll and Turisas know they're goofy, and go with it, they're up there to have fun, and aren't asking you to take them too seriously (though ironically, it's easier to take them seriously than some other fantasy bands). Two, they often (like any *good* fantasy fiction will do) use the fantasy setting to talk about real-world stuff through metaphor. and most importantly, the fantasy they use is more... grounded. there are no 'wizards' (if you use the word 'wizard' you instantly lose) hurling fireballs. A lot of the fantasy (especially of the power metal rather than the folk variety) seems to just be digging through a big ol book of hokey cliche imagery, and you get a bunch of songs about dragons and unicorns that are impossible to take seriously, yet they're up there acting like it's serious.

I don't like goth metal (Deathstars is the exception)
I don't like nu-metal (System of a down is the exception)
I don't like doom metal (No exceptions)
I don't like rock bands that say they are metal (I dislike Avenged Sevenfold expect for one song)

Vision will blind. Severance ties. Median am I. True are all lies.
  • Metalcore and Nu-metal suck big time.

  • Gay-Ass Power Metal and Goth Metal.

I got an exception: Blind Fucking Guardian.

Doom Metal. So damn boring, bands like Evoken, i mean, 12 min songs, repeating the same riff over and over, lyrics are always the same "blah blah i want to die, i'm gonna kill myself, life sucks" hands down THE worst metal genre EVAR!!!!!!!!

  • power-epic-folk metal
killing dragons is not my hobby...

  • Nu-Metal and most Black Metal (with exceptions, such as Drudkh, Akercocke and Negator).

Dislike rapped vocals ontop of samey distortion, not to mention that I find Nu-Metal to be typically bland and uninteresting.
Black Metal I find to be too up its own arse with being kvlt half the time, not to mention the generic lack of creativity in a majority in the genre. That said, there are a lot of creative bands to come from the genre, and I admire that, but in general, nah, not for me.
