Visa confirmation number received, passport and docs sent to the Korean consulate to verify and (fingers crossed) approve. Hooray! And yes, Japan can be like that, as can Korea and China, but generally people will be nice to your face (like Raidanzoup said). When I was in China people were polite to me but it's pretty obvious that if I weren't with some Chinese people I wouldn't have been treated quite the same (I was their guest, not some foreigner making a dick of himself). Osaka is, from what I've heard, a pretty awesome place and the people are supposed to be gregarious and pretty warm. If you guys are thinking about it and have questions, feel free to ask me, cause it really wasn't that hard (though getting everything in order and shipping things to and fro and paying fees will cost you roughly $300). Then again, I haven't started teaching yet, which is the main thing I'll be doing, so yeah, ask me again in a month or two lol.

You know, I never thought this group would even reach 50 members as I don't advertise for it as much as I could.

They're pretty open about their discrimination, but it's not like in, for instance, the US where (if it's there) it's really directed towards you and in your face (because Americans are infinitely more direct about everything than the Japanese), but it's like they're not even doing it "on purpose". They just won't (or "might not") treat you like they treat each other. And then there's the difference in culture and work ethics and how you basically have to bow down and kiss the ass of your superior like no tomorrow on a day to day basis to not get screwed. Like, social appearances is everything, don't ever disrupt the harmony, roll with the punches and go with the flow. The younger generation is, ofc, full of more open-minded people as we live in a more globally cultural age, but all countries have their idiots. Still, I hear Osaka (or Kansai in general) is a nice place, they're not as reserved and "cold" as the Tokyo peeps.

I heard Japan is like the most xenophobic place on Earth.

Well personally, I've wanted to go to Japan since I was like 13, now after hearing one friend tell me so much stuff about his trip to Seoul and Kyoto with a transfer program during his studies in Sweden....It's one of my dreams to get there atleast once in my lifetime. But I'm still only 18, so everything is ahead. :D

Yeah, I'm slightly considering doing that, but I dunno. If my plans for other things fall through, I may do it, if only to travel.

That was totally a plan I had for Japan for a while, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm not sure I'll ever go through with it considering all the effort needed, but it's a nice thought. Have fun in Seoul or wherever, man!

Should be leaving within the next few weeks... I'm waiting to hear back from the SK govt about a visa and then I get my passport stamped and I'm pretty much good to go.

Not sure how I feel about the new Baroness song yet, either.

v When are you going? It's not as fruitful as one might think because it's still developing, but there are bands out there. Veterans like Newk and others like Necramyth.

Oh man, looks like I'll have to try and find the metal scene when I'm in Korea.

The new Baroness song. Song feels a bit cookie cutter, but the sound is unmistakably still Baroness.

There is one more good bm band from korea... Svedhous, this is one man project, and he plays depressive bm. Couple CDs of Pyha and Svedhous are now on their way to my house
