This group is for everybody who loves music that features one of the best keyboards ever made: the MELLOTRON!

In the late 60s, groups like The Beatles, King Crimson and The Moody Blues introduced the Mellotron to rock music.
Now it was possible to create an orchestral sound without any "real" instruments, because the mellotron could play-back tapes with original recordings of violins, brass, choir, flutes, vibes and many other instruments.

Especially in the early 70s the Mellotron became very important for the progressive rock movement and was used by many musicians - as a result it can be heared on nearly every record by ProgRock giants Yes, Genesis and King Crimson.

Even today a few bands use a mellotron because of its unique sound, e.g. Anekdoten, Liquid Scarlet and Oasis.

    God, when talking about Mellotron the first thing that comes to my mind these days is "José Cid - 10.000 anos depois entre Vénus e Marte(album)" I'm even surpresed that it's not on the related artists, it's a masterpiece

    'Watcher of the Skies' by Genesis is the best use of a Mellotron along with King Crimson's 'In The Court Of The Crimson King'. However someone please please please remove the Oasis reference about mellotrons, satans own plagiarists dishonour the Mellotron with nasty little single note squeely 'melodies' in their crap strummy pub rock. Gallagher shouldn't be allowed to taint one with his touch ever again!
