I admire not only the way she was singing, but also the way she was silent on the stage! Like in Habanera (concerto version of early 60-s). I think the case of Callas is the case of an absolut GENIUS. Finally - Callas exeptionallity was experssed not only in her voice abilities, but also in her ability of create an artistic ACT on the opera's stage. She was an Artiste by huge "A"!

"Fuck off" may indeed be a little inadequate, but this is your opinion, so you can say whatever you want. I'm still not quite sure what to think about Netrebko. I mean, she actually IS a good singer, her voice is well trained... but I think the "plastic product" comparison is not absolutely wrong. She is for sure not such an "in vitro" thing like some modern acts of popmusic, but I can't help myself but to find her interpretations quite "emotionless", not felt, heartless maybe, blank or pale... Without any pathos, yes. So the main problem for me is that ALTHOUGH she is a little boring I just MUST accept that her dramatic talents ARE actually quite rare nowadays. The "dead opera scene" it is for sure...

it is not fair to compare Netrebko with Callas. Any fan of opera should appreciate its inherent elegance without bad-mouthing those precious few who have the ability to perform. I cannot memorize a poem much less an opera!

It's quite astonishing that neither Radiohead nor Portishead are on top of this groups charts, especially because everyone seems to listen to Portishead after the release of Third... Hm, Radiohead isn't in the charts at all.

i have to agree with the opinion about netrebko.i'm not saying that she's not good or anything but i can see that she's trying so hard to emulate Maria...and is not working..Maria has something,a quality in her voice that makes her unique.She is Opera!

Anna Netrebko is a great singer with astonishing abilities, huge charm and a dramatic talent, which is nowadays unfortunately very rare. But: she is certainly not the new voice of the century. She is like a lamb, that tries to mount the throne of the tigress. The great Callas is simply incomparable.
