Are These the Best 3D Video Cards for Linux / Open Source?

According to a famous Linux magazine:

    #1 ATI Radeon HD2900XT

    #2 NVidia GeForce 8800GTS

    #3 NVidia GeForce 8600GT

Cheap Best Buy: NVidia GeForce 7300GS

    Is this true?

installing video card drivers, havoc with 'dcopserver'?

i installed the nvidia driver for my card and i had big hassles this week getting permissions messed up with 'dcopserver_localhost' file in my home directories.

i had to revert to xorg (nv). i concluded it may also have something to do with scim bridge (on my home pc) and skim (on my work pc). what's the deal here?

i read somewhere that the dcopserver files get duplicated with new driver, but a simple solution to a scary problem was my way out.
