I am using 4.1.current on SuSE 11.1-64 bit. It's good now, after several months struggling. I have a fall-back Macbook that I'm trying to wean myself from though. I think if you have an NVidia card your experience has probably been a lot worse than if you started with an ATI card (I have NVidia and compositing has sucked until the most recent driver updates).

  • 4.2 came out today! *dances*

Konqueror is good, but Dolphin is better. I love KDE4!

I actually installed Dolphin on my Gnome install of Ubuntu a while back. Some of it reminds me of Mac actually.

well I think changing from 3 to 4 is just a matter of getting used to new stuff. I didn't like the changes at the beginning, but after using 4.1 a week I didn't feel much difference :D although that new folder-view plasma is IMO better than the using the whole desktopf for icons, but I think that's just because my Dekstop-Folder contains 100 files or so :D

This looks pixelled. I can shop from some of the tell, and from timing a few pixels in my see.

I've been using it since 4.1. Tried 4.0, but it lacked refinement, and a million tiny inconveniences do add up. Having a blast with it since 4.1. It's gorgeous, extremely intuitive to use, and it feels like kde.

Im using KDE since 3.0 and i hate 4.x

The style looks really great. Just amazing. Especially 4.3.0 (installed it on the day when it was released). The new Air theme is really amazing.

But its _not_ usable at all. Konqueror crashes a _lot_ of times when sites are using complex JavaScript and to set up Webkit for every page is not funny after time. Kopete looks terrible since <= 4.2.80

KOffice is not usable in any way too -.-

and its all really, really, really slow. Seems like they changed from C++ to Java or C#

Im going to give it a new try. Again and again but its hard to getting familiar. Using GNOME is just like feeling you´re at home.

KDE is like Campus. You have a lot of fun, maybe a longer time. But its still not your home.

  • I went and jumped into the development tree just to get KDE4.3, it is better than 4.2 that's for sure, more stable here and appears to work a bit faster too.

I managed to get won over by Dolphin as my file manager, and only use Konquerer as a browser as an emergency when Firefox screws up or for testing.

It shows that KDE4 is not ready if I can still find the KDE3 version of Amarok in the repositories! Although, it does mean a load of KDE3 libraries have to be installed to keep it. I'm sorry, but the Amarok2 sucks (there's a topic somewhere in this Linux group about it).

Still missing lots of ports of Superkaramba stuff to Plasmoids.

KDE 4.5 is definitely the best in WM on Linux.
