"LA Ink" is a reality show on TLC that follows the events of "High Voltage Tattoo", a tattoo studio in Los Angeles, California.

The shop is owned by tattoo artist Kat Von D, who formerly starred on Miami Ink. In 2007, after a falling out[2] with Miami Ink owner Ami James, Kat left the show and returned to Los Angeles, where she opened 'High Voltage' Tattoo and was offered a spin-off show. Artists Corey Miller, Hannah Aitchison, Kim Saigh, and Kat's best friend Pixie Acia who managed the shop were all featured on LA Ink.
Pixie was fired as manager at High Voltage Tattoo and left the show toward the end of Season 2, after an argument between her and other cast members who claimed that she wasn't doing her work around the shop.

Each episode features a number of customers along with their backstories and motivations for choosing their tattoos. The series also explores the personal lives of the artists, and the underlying idea of female empowerment in a male-dominated industry.

The show's theme song was "Dancing With Myself" by Nouvelle Vague for the first season.
