  New artists? hmm..... Rose Hill Drive, The Answer (both blues-rock), Joe Bonamassa (blues/rock. imho, the greatest guitarist of this generation), Charlie Hunter (jazz), Maggot Brain (relatively unknown band, have some of their songs for free download here on last.fm. sound like early pearl jam), The Derek Trucks Band (the band's music spans lots of genres.. from blues and jazz to african and indian music).

  Off the top of my head: Arriving Somewhere but not Here - Porcupine Tree - prog rock -- epic sections in a 12 minute long song. Come Together - Beatles - Beatles. Teardrop - Massive Attack - trip-hop -- the video is extra creepy IMO. What Sound - Lamb - sorta trip-hop, but much more layered than, say, Portishead. In the Waiting Line - Zero 7 - chillout. Limb by Limb - Phish - "jam band". Mrs. Robinson - S&G - folk rock possibly? Quadrophenia (the instrumental song) - The Who - classic rock. Spider's Web - Katie Melua - gorgeous voice, heh.
