Diversity is bullshit. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it. It has become a political euphemism. People still hate people based on physical attributes, and people in charge know it. Even...

Star Trek. A better time, when that show was on. One of the first shows which featured a non-forced ethnically diverse cast. It also contained the first multi-racial lip-lock. The show challenged current events and issues like war, civil rights and race in general. The late Martin Luther King Jr. praised it; saying it was the best show on television.

Now, let's zip back to the present, where you'll never see the original Star Trek on syndication. All you'll see is mindless violence, patronising news channels, obscene sexual situations, and racial, sexual and religious tension so wound up it is only a matter of time before the final line is crossed.

Take reality television. The Neighbourhood, Black.White, Unan1mous. These shows present nothing but tasteless drama, spontaneous outrages, racial epithets and the current civil state of America, if not the entire world. But do they do anything about it? No, they glorify it; commercialise it; fill it with product endorsement and sell it. I could name a few people who are rolling in their graves right now because of the current state of the world. Samuel Clemens, Martin Luther King Jr., John Lennon, Lenny Bruce, and Malcom X, just to name a few.

So, in rumination--turn off the television. Go give someone a hug for no reason at all. Make some change, for no reason at all, if only to make change. Tell someone who says something blatantly offensive the consequences of his or her words. Educate someone; tell them how words don't mean anything but when used in conjunction with other words, can bring about pain, suffering and hate. Not to mention humiliation.

I'm not trying to preach, or tell you what to do. I'm just stating what I think could certainly alter this downward spiral human-kind is going down.
