Help a foobar newbie install skins?

  • Help a foobar newbie install skins?

I've had foobar for a couple months now, had winamp before... basically switched because winamp made my computer lag. I'm loving foobar so far but, it's not very attractive : (

I really like some of the skins I've seen, wish I could install them. I've tried a few sites for help, a few mentioned something about foo_looks, I downloaded that, then a few skins... extracted them within the foo_looks folder (which I placed in the components folder)... and I'm stuck

Anybody kind enough to help me out? I'd really appreciate it.

EDIT: Step-by-step instructions would be nice.

EDIT #2: If it helps any: I have foobar v0.9.6.1 and windows vista

Post a link to a config you liked and we'll tell you how to install it. Personally I'd recommend one of these: http://br3tt.deviantart.com/gallery/

  • I appreciate the help, I've heard so many people say it's easy to do it, makes me feel slow, lol.

I really like this one: http://br3tt.deviantart.com/art/Curacao-v1-2a-Released-105580817

  • nvm, i figured it out... a lot easier than i was making it out to be. thanks anyway

@ Arthurrr, Could you help me, too? With this one...
    http://br3tt.deviantart.com/art/Xchange-v2-0-0-124592263
I can't understand where I am supposed to paste the folders... And when I import the .fcl file, I have no icons or buttons... Help me, please... :)

    donjo666,
Put xchange folder to C:\Program Files\foobar2000\skins, so that file xchange2.0.0.fcl is inside C:\Program Files\foobar2000\skins\xchange.
Icons and buttons will be missing if your foobar2000 path differs from C:\Program Files, you'll have to edit the code a bit and change it to your path. I don't remember where, cause I haven't used xchange for a while. Anyway, there are a lot of tips @ http://br3tt.free.fr/

    Thanks

Hey, thanks a lot! It worked! The only wonder is that my foo at work is version 0.9.6.8. and it says it can't work with foo_cwb.dll, foo_func.dll and foo_uie_powerpanels.dll. Because of the incompatible versions of the components, it says... And I can't find newer versions... Have you ever met the same problem?

These components are outdated and don't work with recent foobar2k versions. This config doesn't need them so you can delete the files to get rid of start up message.

There are some skins made as executable files by their authors... You could look for some of that kind. Or just try a "clean" installation and put all that mesh out of the zip file into foobar2000 program folder. ;)
You should go to DeviantArt and ask some of the deviants (the authors of the skins you like) about a particular skin.
