Did you know about Siberian language? it was created by siberian separatists in 2006 and based upon choldonic dialect. Bugotak, in its new and free album Wheels Must Roll uses this language in some songs.

Alle deutschen Dialekte sich vom Aussterben bedroht. Und das Deutsche selbst wird langsam von "Denglisch" verdrängt. Und das Denglisch, wer weiß, am Ende vielleicht vom Englischen selbst... Do you see? ;-)

Oh! I was using an old version of the Unesco Red Book, they have published a new one last month (April 2009): In it they define 5 levels, and Welsh is "unsafe", the lowest level of endangerment: http://www.unesco.org/culture/en/endangeredlanguages

    maio 2009
  • tartalo

It is acording to UNESCO: http://www.helsinki.fi/~tasalmin/europe_report.html#Welsh

Welsh isn't an endangered language by the way. The number of speakers are growing every year! It might fit into the "Potentially Endangered Languages" category but definitely not the first one.

Welsh isn't endangered, there are too many nationalists in my country keeping it alive. It's unfortunate that once this was patriotism, is now nationalism and hatred towards the English language instead of advocation of the Welsh language.

Esperanto is fun, but I have the strangest fascination/obsession with constructed languages anyway. I was surprised to see the lack of a general group for language lovers, so I made one, if anyone is interested: http://www.last.fm/group/I+LOVE+languages

I find Esperanto hilarious, especially Esperanto rap. Ooga booga. Everybody should make up their own language. A Language of One.™ ;^)

I see that I left somehow misleading post. I love artificial languages ideas about one language = one world. I have studied esperanto for more then a year and updating time to time . I am not talking about that it havent have to be in this group just somehow separated from nonconstructed. It’s another discusion why it doesn’t worked as L. Zamenhof was willing . I know a lot young persons who is keeping it alive and families who use it as everyday comunication tool and a lot of people working to spread it out. I just want to believe that esperanto or other constructed language will take it’s place in the world not giving any bonus for any nation as nowdays widespread languages do. Music can be a tool. So people will understand each other clearly without mistranslation mistakes who often leads to conflicts. I'm celebrating diversity.Peace

Why not include some artificial languages which have had a history of actual use? In a manner they too are endangered from disuse and forgetfulness. Plus they are colorful curiosities, which strikes me as the most important hallmark of a group such as this. Permit the conceptual ambiguity and learn about music new to you.

    outubro 2008
  • gintarin

Wow it's really interesting group :) But it;s not clear why esperanto belongs to this group? It's not endangered, it's constructed or artificial language as Ido and ect.
