Patterns Make Sunrise and Indian Summer are both pretty amazing. But I'd say "Luck of Aleia" would be my favourite band at the moment, just so well writen lyrics.

R.I.P NATHAN GRIFFITHS I LOVE YOU BABE! xx
  • ....and the "what is emo" debate rages on...................................

for me i got into punk around the time of the get up kids, braid, texas is the reason, promise ring, early alk3, the anniversary and these are bands i still listen to now.

I guess things get difficult when people are influenced by emo but head off in a tangent, for instance bands like koufax (who had heaps of soul influences too) and the german band pale (who were also influenced by bands like the jam)

Music tends to move on as a direct result of what went before but can still take influences from it. Punk itself went against the hippie movement but a lot of the punk scene is based around community (not unlike the hippie comune ideal)

Most bands i mention have changed a lot through their lives partly due to the original style of music they were playing being taken to a more maintream audience but the original bands still wanting to move on with what they want to do. And surely that "doing your own thing" idea is what punk was about in the first place.

Good use of the word fasioncore by the way, i've been using the term fasion punk for a while.

Sorry for the long rant, but all those people above who have been told "you're not emo" or the like should get out and check the other bands mentioned. Surely in these days of the internet it's even easier. Also, support your local "punk" scene. By that, i mean independent gig promoters and record stores, these are the people that can recommend what's good (or at least different)

Saosin <3 and Escape The Fate

  • <3 SiLvErSTeiN

  • I joined this shitty group for this one post

This is the worst fucking thread on last.fm.

You guys need to learn your roots:
I'm talking some Moss Icon, Indian Summer, Rites of Spring, Lifetime, Jawbreaker, Mineral, Promise Ring, Bells on Trike, Evergreen, some fucking NATIVE NOD up in hurr!

If any of the guys in these bands, the real emo bands, saw someone who was in MCR, some faggoty ass girl pants wearing sissy fuck, they would kick their ass.

And then the faggot would write a song about it and 13 year old girls everywhere would cream

  • My favourites are two...Jimmy eat world and The get up kids ;)))
