    Of course, modernist music can be a real challenge even for a trained musician, given its experimental nature. Many classical musicians are just comfortable with their habits and aren't very willing to change them.

    One of the most popular rock songs of all time is in fact quite unusual and refined: Bohemian Rhapsody. That song's pure progressive rock. People even accept atonal music if presented as part of a film score. In classical music, in fact, the musicians can be more conservative than the audience.

    I'm sure that weird music, or so-called musician's music, once you get used to it, can speak to anyone, it's just a matter of being ready to leave one's comfort zone and proceeding in little steps. I have done the same, I'm not even a musician myself!

    Just would like to emphasise I'm not against unsophisticated music, there are pop songs I really like. But it would be nice if great musicians and virtuosos got more recognition and people acknowledged that their taste in music is narrow and/or not exactly refined, and perhaps were a little more curious.
