    I hesitated slightly when joining this group, because 'indie' is mentioned in the description. How long does it take for people to understand 'indie' is not a genre? the only thing 'indie' means, is 'independent' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_music) Hence a very large part of all music can be called 'indie', because the label the artist is signed to is not a major (and thus independent) label. That includes stuff like metal, hip-hop, etc., not the music usually called 'indie'. Furthermore, much music called 'indie' is not listed to an independent record label at all, but to some huge label, like EMI, Sony BMG, etc.
