Reaction to "Through The Fire And Flames" at my school camp.
I recently went on my year 12 retreat, and by some miracle we were allowed to play Guitar Hero III, which the youth chaplain had so kindly brought with him. I instantly challenged anyone nearby for Guitar Hero supremacy, being the junkie that I am. One of my peers took me up on the challenge, so I immediately suggested "Through The Fire And Flames" because, as almost anyone in this group would agree, that song rules.
I was surprised at the response I got. Even the youth chaplain said, "This is the worst song in the world. It's just noise." Upon finishing the song, I saw that everyone was glad it was over.
Does anyone else find that their peers don't appreciate the technical skill of DragonForce, or find that they are sneered at for liking this particular band? Or is it just me and my closed-minded year group?
"Get away, run away, fly away. Lead me astray to Dreamer's Hideaway. I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more; I cannot die, I, a whore for the cold world. Forgive me, I have but two faces - one for the world, one for God. Save me! I cannot cry 'cause the shoulder cries more; I cannot die, I, a whore for the cold world!" -Nightwish, "The Poet and the Pendulum"
Don't worry about that. Let them listen to whatever they want, it's the music we like. They're just to small-minded to even understand what technical skill is. Also happens a lot to me :|
