Vote for a new group picture every week?

sounds like a good idea.

We actually tried to start this idea when we first came over to Classic Rock' in May, but at the time there were only 200 members in what had been a very inactive group and it seemed nobody was really interested. wagiloe made up a whole bunch of avatars based on album covers and I used a lot of them. Lately I've just been reacting to posts about specific bands.

Anyway, I'm all for it, with the caveats listed below:

It doesn't really matter what the size of the picture is, I can reduce it, Standard for avatars is 150 X 150 dpi though.

If you want to stylize the 'Classic Rock' label you'll have to do that. If you leave it to me what you'll get is something similar to what you've seen in the past. ;)

As you can tell, I don't mind changing pictures, but you need to know that I hate being tied to a schedule. How about one week, give are take a few days? :)

Not to pick nits, but the max size is actually 140x140, despite what it might say. Last.fm will automatically resize it for you, though.

I suck at editing images, so I just uploaded the original.

how about next week......abacab by genesis.the title track has been getting lots of airplay here.and it's a cool album.great cover as well.imo.

I'm preety new to the group so don't know what earlier pictures or album covers were used but here are some obvious ones:

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Led Zep - Houses of the Holy
Wishbone Ash - Argus

Alice Cooper's KILLER album cover would be a great, eye catching one.

Or take the AC/DC - Stiff Upper Lip Cover with the Angus Young statue

Here's a suggestion...that may already have been an avatar?. Well, The Who always stays firm as classic rock. And that rock in the middle is saying it all. A classic rock!. ;)

No that's gangster, it's a picture of Freddie Mercury at Wembley Stadium...I have the DVD :D Very amazing concert. Any Queen fan should go out and buy it :P

But then again, if we can only use one Queen picture then I'd rather we use the A Kind of Magic album cover. You know, the one in my avatar. It's probably my favourite cover ever, the picture is just great :)

To TheMuffin-Man: I for one did know this was Queen, as I suspect others did. My personal issue with this image is that it isn't a widely known album cover and I thought that was the continuing theme. Maybe that should be discussed further (if images other than album covers should be used in the rotation).
