I agree with the original poster. You would think that with such a love for CAN that their music would be somewhat interesting but it just isnt.

  • MOONEY SUZUKI sounds nothing like Can.

Of course there was an English band named after two blues singers (Pink Anderson and Floyd Council) that sounded nothing like those guys, either...

  • The name is seriously misleading.

Their first Ep is pretty darn OK for what it is, i.e., 10th generation Nuggets tribute garage.

As for everything after that, ouch. Wanting to be the MC5 never works out well for anybody, I don't care who you are.

Yeah I totally agree, at first I was drawn in by their name but realised they bear no resemblance to Can and seem to be more of a poor Garage Revival attempt.

  • yeah, they kinda crapped out after a couple of ok records.

    The Mooney Suzuki

Released a couple of very good garage rock´n´roll records then faded away from public view. Will be remembered for some very bad career moves.

You know, a disc of Malcolm Mooney and Damo Suzuki duets would be killer.

"Mooney / Suzuki Sing the Greatest Love Songs of the 80s"

I like albums that get shitty reviews in magazines.
  • Yeah, I knew nothing about this band, and their CD wandered into work (Used CD store). I saw the name, I saw the trippy artwork and I got pretty excited. I popped it in thinking that I would gladly pay the $3.99 price tag (minus an employee discount), nope. It's like that boring garage rock revival stuff Jet got popular playing, not even remotely Can esque.

It's a dumb move on their part, in my opinion because most people who get the name probably won't get the band.
