    Best Album?

For me, the best work of this two guys has to be Geogaddi its my absolutely favorite album, its so much weirder and darker than Music Has The Right To Children (wich i love very much too), but when i listen to Geogaddi with the lights off and just the earphones i get this mental images that are so weird and beatiful... only a few albums have done that for me in my life... i just love alfa and omega! it makes me think of an island and a group of people making tribal music.

  • I gotta go with Twoism.

  • Geogaddi is amazing and more thought-provoking than their other albums, but as for my favorite, I would have to give that title to Hi Scores.

Every song on it is absolutely the most beautiful music I have heard by them, especially Everything You Do Is A Balloon. If I was stuck on a desert island with one album, I'd probably take that. It's SO good.

  • BTW- best album for me is 'music has the right to children' Not an unusual choice I know but its an album that I never get tired of and that changed my whole attitude to music when I first heard it :-D

Amo Bishop Roden appears on 'In a Beautiful Place out in the Country'.
A great album, which also features 'Kid for Today', one of my favourite BoC tracks.
Although this album has just 4 tracks, so I don't think it would really count as one.
So I'll go with Music has the Right to Children. It was my first BoC album, and I think it had a significant influence in my musical taste.

Directine is such a great track.

  • i really really like 'in a beautiful place out in the country', sure just 4 tracks but i've listened to it on repeat many times.

  • I think I would have to go with A Beautiful Place Out in the Country, too. For me, it represents some of their most ambient and hypnotic work, which I love. However, I've yet to own Twoism or High Scores, so I'll reserve judgement on those for the time being.

i used to dislike Geogaddi thought it was too bloated; but i've started listening to it in a new light and really really like it.

MHTRTC and Twoism are my top favourite BoC albums; if at gun point i would go with MHTRTC the first BoC album i heard.

    Wait a minute...this isn't scooter!
  • 'Everything you do is a balloon' is indeed an awesome, fantastic track! Everyone who hasnt got it should definitely get 'Hi Scores'... thanks again for the recommendation.
I realised I really need to listen to 'A beautiful place out in the country' again as well- that is definitely up there with MHTRTC in my opinion.

  • I'm not sure why, but I really love Geogaddi, and my favorite track is "Sunshine Recorder" I love it for no good reason.

  • I think my favourite album changes from listen to listen, In a Beautiful Place out in the Country would probably be my current choice. Each track has its own distinctive beauty, yet the songs work well as a whole as well.
If I had to choose a full length, I reckon its Geogaddi for the moment...

I get the feeling I might be a lone voice in picking out The Campfire Headphase, but it just about gets my vote, although it's a very tough call.

btw the track is called Oirectine, with an "O" instead of "D"
and yes, Oirectine is one of BoC's greatest songs

i personally fave geogaddi and MHTRTC most, though i have their complete discography and i think all their songs are uniqie and worthy listening

Boards of Canada is religion! :P :)

I say BoC Maxima is their best release. One of my favourite songs right now is Mansel.

i'd go for geogaddi, no doubt, the darkish, hypnotising sounds on that release are just great, MHTRTC is great too but Geogaddi is more my thing

when you listen to a track like The Devil is in the Details you simply get high without the herbs ^^

at the moment Music Has The Right to Children..
and to mention some tracks on that album, the color of the fire, telephasic workshop and happy cycling [_].

also The Campfire Headphase is a great album IMO.

  • I'm really getting into BOC Maxima having got hold of it recently... its incredible of course, and seems somehow the archetypical Boards of Canada album, even more than MHTRTC (though it will be hard for any album to replace that as my favourite, and Geogaddi is a VERY close 2nd)... its really interesting hearing some of their older stuff, discovering new and classic BOC tracks is very exciting :-)

  • in a beautiful place out in the country, it hasn't got any flaws.

  • Geogaddi is my fav album, although it has its flaws (Gyroscope is just annoying). 1969 sounds like a hit tune from another galaxy and is prob the only song in the world i'll never get tired of hearing. I'm surprised so many people here also have Geogaddi as their fav, as most ppl i've spoken to tend to prefer MHTRTC. I really like everything BOC did before Campfire, including Hell Interface and the early demos.

I fully agree with coalescence that in a beautiful place in the country is flawless. But it's not a full album.
