The Definitive Blue Note 100

  • The Definitive Blue Note 100

I tried this little game on another label group site and I'm curious how it would go here. So... There appears to be over 1000 of us in this group. If we each pick the three Blue Note recordings we each personally feel are THE definite Blue Note recordings - the three we could absolutely not be able to live without, we'll end up with a list of 100 essential Blue Note recordings.

If we weight our selections so that a #1 choice receives 10 points, a #2 choice receives 5 points and a #3 choice receives 2 points, we'll have ourselves a great list.

But it depends on two things:
    1. Everyone contributes.
    2. Everyone chooses their three personal faves.

I'll keep track of all the submissions and keep a tally on an excel grid by artist, album, points, and contributor.

    Here are my three choices:
    1. Andrew Hill - Point of Departure
    2. Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch
    3. Ike Quebec - Blue and Sentimental

So which three would you choose?
