    Who are your favorites?

Who are your favorite "easy listening" IDM/ambient artists? Any suggestions for artists to connect to this group?

    Why not? It's zeitgeist, baby!

    Hello from Ukraine! .)

I'm very happy.) It's very nice that you remember the Foreign Last's users like me.)
It seems to me an excellent candidate for the Beautiful easy listening IDM track-list will be Origamibiro.
For me will be interesting to know what you think. Answer, it takes just a few free minutes.)

Origamibiro is very good indeed, but not IDM. I did connect him to Pleasantly Neurotic, though! Thanks!

    Yes, I have already noticed.)Thnx!)

  • Four Tet, Ochre, Tipper, Bonobo, Dr. Toast, Boards of Canada, Prefuse 73, Amon Tobin

In no particular order, these are some of my IDM classic favs, a little less on the glitchy side and a little more on the melodic. Various tempos so not sure if it fits the category exactly. Best stuff for me to listen to at work when my brain is moving too fast! So I love this group, tho the name is a little unfortunate..."easy listening" makes me feel, um, old. Cheers!

    Four Tet
    Ochre
    Tipper
    Bonobo
    Dr. Toast
    Boards of Canada
    Prefuse 73
    Amon Tobin

I noticed that Monoceros wasn't on the connections, therefore I think you should definitely check him out.
I've only got the Imaginary EP, which is free on his last.fm, but it's bloody awesome....

I checked out a couple of Origamibiro's tracks on his "Cracked Mirrors & Stopped Clocks" and it sounded marvelous, but a bit too "real" for me, i'm more into the artificial sounds of minimal, IDM influenced, with a bit of piano, here and there.

  • d_rradio!!

Just listen to Paper Soul and So Long (http://www.last.fm/music/d_rradio)

  • Jon Hopkins with album Contact Note is one of my favorites.

I don't think I ever have a number one band in any genre, there are always lots of ties. As of today, I think I'd go with the following for IDM:

Add N to (X), Four Tet, Daft Punk, Casino Versus Japan, Caribou, Herbert's stuff, Dani Siciliano, Jason Forrest, Diplo, Ellen Allien, Jimmy Tamborello's stuff, Ursula 1000, Fennesz, Modeselektor, The Gotan Project, The Knife, Vitalic, Kid 606, Mylo, Ulrich Schnauss

After seeing a different side of Daedelus last week, I think he'll soon be on my fav list again.

Now this is my kind of group!

Some people above have already mentioned some of my favourite artists.

I think Near The Parenthesis is my favourite at the moment. Beautiful sounds. Check out the free track nidae and also I Remember It Differently and departing gate.

    B. Fleischmann is also excellent, although his stuff may be veering away from qhat I'd call IDM. Check out the albums The Humbucking Coil and Welcome Tourist. As for tracks, try Broken Monitors, Phones and Machines, Composure, Grunt and Take Your Time (although that last one is about 45 mins long!)

A lot of stuff on n5MD is worth checking out too e.g. SubtractiveLAD and Arc Lab.

    Enjoy.

Now I need to come back here later and check out the artists I haven't heard of.

    Forgot two awesome tracks:

    Cantelopps by the mighty Khonnor
    and
Hellomusic (Ochre remix). It's not streamable on Last.FM but you can (legally) download it here.

  • How about Sabi:Yello Sand Back, Mano (Sabi Remix), Six Places, Dried Flowers, Mirrored World are my most favourite tracks of his.
Joel Tammik:Without You (Joel Tammik Remix), AEG and Secede:The King of Sanda, Depart & Arrive are also awesome! I very much recommend them.

Some recommendations: Mosaik(awesome melodic stuff), Bllix, xorb (which I'm obviously is biased towards :) ) . Perhaps Efterklang too, they're more of a post rock band but I think they have enough ambient and electronic influences to fit the bill.

Amon Tobin is sadly, not easy listening to my ears.

I love the "naturalist" ones such as Skytree.

Never underestimate a geek with an internet connection.

Beak is sometimes too dark, and I hate dark things so I'd skip immediately.

Doesn't know a thing about the other two, though.
