Hey everyone! My name's Marleen and I've been a member for some time now, but I'd never properly introduced myself.. sorry! And, needless to say, I'm a big fan of Velvet Goldmine and the glam rock genre ;) I love how Velvet Goldmine is like a dark fairy tale with all sorts of references to real-life music and events, thereby making real life a fairy tale!

Favourite characters: Oscar Wilde, haha^^ Love his background presence and the way it dominates events and dialogue :) And I think Ewan McGregor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Christian Bale are all equally brilliant in this film, they're most of my favourite actors anyway!
Favourite song: Bitter-Sweet and Satellite Of Love
I discovered the film by browsing around on imdb.com - I went something like: "it has Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale in it, it is about glam rock which I love and the description and pictures look great.. I've got to see this!!" :)

I actually had to read some Oscar Wilde for uni (I study English) and I think he's an absolutely brilliant writer! I'm busy reading everything he's ever written ;)

And how you were introduced to the film: Read an interview with Ewan McGregor. The interviewer mentioned to EM how his movies (up to that point) all had Iggy Pop connections. Being an rabid Iggy/Stooges fan, I rented the movie and watched it. Once finished, I picked my jaw off the floor, rewound the tape (yeah, I saw it on tape), and played it again and again. VG is absolutely one of my top five favorite films :)

How you were introduced to the film: i'm keen on different English subcultures. even if ithis film was imagination, it was interesting to watch. after this i became a real fan of placebo-)

How introduced to the film: a friend who told me I needed to see it because I love glam rock, the soundtrack is amazing, and since I am in love with Oscar Wilde's plays.....how could I even attempted to defy such arguments? --not that I tried of course : )

hello everyone ... i just found out this group exists today and joined immidiately :) Me and my girlfriend love this movie like no other and we were listening to the soundtrack again and again for long periods of time while we went through a lot of things (both good and really bad). so i personally have deep relationship with both the movie and soundtrack and really love them. so and as for the fav things:

character: oscar wild :)
song: tumbling down
how i was introduced: i spotted a piece of news on the internet saying something about ewan mcgreggor going to play kurt cobain in a movie so i clicked on it and there was also something like "this won't be the first time he's gonna play rockstar, he played it also in movie velvet goldmine". so that's when me and my gf decided we MUST see that movie and there it went :)

I'm Janis and I really do think this film changed my life.

Fave Character-Jack Fairy
Fave Song-....jeez this is hard. I guess I'll have to go with Baby's On Fire because it was my introduction to Eno's solo work
How I found out about the film-I was looking at Angie Bowie's wikipedia page...I forget why, but I saw that it said Mandy Slade in Velvet Goldmine was slightly based on her so I clicked on Velvet Goldmine and read a little about it. Didn't really think much about it. Then it came on Ovation and I watched it. BUT the first time I watched it I actually didn't like it too much because I had trouble following the plot. So I watched it again....and again...and then got obsessed with the soundtrack and Roxy Music...and it has pretty much grown on me and turned me into this complete Glam Rock fanatic ever since.

Wow that's a big answer but yep. :3
