    O_o

first of all placebo did not played themselves in velvet goldmine
brian and steve were in a band called "Flaming Creatures" and stefan was in "polly small's band"
it's true that brian's band sang 20th century boy but... it wasn't as placebo

  • Placebo wasn't the band that appears in the movie, but they are, actually, the band that recorded the song for the movie...

It's also included in the bonnus cd called 'covers' in the 'Sleeping with ghosts' re-edition.

In there somewhere, the Myth of a Soul in torment...

ok,they don't exactly play themselves, but anyway they ARE in the film and they jump on the stage singin and playing 20th century boy. There's also a scene were Brian run trough the street and looses his black glamour boa..[I have it] [the feather boa,not Brian] [..what a pity]

  • hello,

I think the artist who is like Brian Slade, is David Bowie..

and the film is based on the meeting of him and Iggy Pop( Curt Wilde)

Brian Molko is in this film because, at their start, Placebo played a kind of glitter music, but he doesn't play Brian molko...

sorry if I don't reply to the question...but my English is not so good :s

    peace

The original song 20th century boy is from the UK glam rock band T Rex. Placebo made just goddamn good coverversion of it, for the purpose of the movie.

Sometimes I wonder what I´m gonna do, but there ain´t no cure for the summertime blues

it's clear that Brian Slade is based on David Bowie but also on Jobriath, another glam rock singer from the '70
Actually the cover art for the album of Max Demon is based on an album cover of Jobriath
And by extend also can relate Brian S to Marc Bolan and Brian Eno.About Curt Wild I can see a little of Lou Reed in him not only Iggy Pop

Yeah, Curt Wild is a mix of Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Mick Ronson. And, to top it off, he looks like Kurt Cobain ;)
