I would say Bill Callahan as well, but he has really only been in Austin since 2007. Hard to give a definite #1, but if I had to pick, American Analog Set maybe. This should be divided into categories like: Fav band to shake yo' ass to, favorite band to get drunk to, fav band to look at girls in the crowd, etc.

If you guys could though, check out my friends band, local austinites - The Eastern Sea, they have a myspace and songs up on last.fm. I would love their music even if they weren't friends!

My favorite is probably Monroe Mustang, but Experimental Aircraft, The Swells, AmAnSet and Explosions in the Sky are all amazing.
