    What's the tag source? It scanned my music location, but shows no tags have been found.

    Currently we only support MP3. But we should be able to support most tag and music formats. Although I can't promise a timeline.

    There is a bug where the tag cloud doesn't display unless you restart Boffin. So possibly you can try that.

    Same issue here. restarted, re-ran. nothing.

    The path is clear
    Though no eyes can see
    The course laid down long before.
    And so with gods and men
    The sheep remain inside their pen,
    Though many times they've seen the way to leave.

    With me too. I had this issue few months ago, and I wanted to give Boffin a new try, but still "No tags have been found". :S

    Yeah I think the tag cloud provider service stopped working. I no longer have power to fix that.

    Any updates?

    Unfortunately, I happened to re-scan my music collection today, and lost my existing tags as well :(

    Will the tag cloud service recover?

    Since Boffin has no future, I suggest to all Windows users this great app http://getmusicbee.com/

  • I have a great idea: how about you post the source code and release this under GPL so we can make it work again?

    As for MusicBee, meh. I'm happy with MediaMonkey. I just wish its last.fm plugin worked well enough that I didn't have to make it pretend it was Winamp.

    We did post the source code you doofus.

    It won't help you though since it's the Last.fm tag cloud server that isn't providing data anymore.

    I think it's sad to retire a great service like this :\

    you could even make us pay for it (subscription feature)

    rescanned my music...

    I'm not sure why I did that. But I rescanned my library, and now I get "no tags!" errors each time. how do I reset this thing? delete the library or whatever it needs.
    ---edited--

    whups. didn't read the messages first.

    I guess the big mistake was re-scanning my library. I even went to:

    users/_~me/Library/Application Support/Last.fm

    deleted that whole directory. reading these messages now, that was obviously a waste of time.

    I have a music cloud on my page. where is that widget getting that cloud data from?

    Hmm, Boffin plays music but doesn't scrobble. Previously (maybe half a year ago) it was ok. Anyone got the same problem?

    scrobbling works, but..

    I think you need to have the Last.fm client running for scrobbling from Boffin to work. I am able to see track progress, artist info etc in the client while listening in Boffin (Windows)

    Sure you are right, I shouldn't uninstall Last.fm software %)

  • Got it installed under Ubuntu with WINE but it won't scan my music folder. Bummer.

    awesome, i've been looking for something like this. can you make it display an artist list? or apply those tags to the .mp3 files?

    and it definetly needs you to register that .dll from page 1 on windows7 x64, otherwise it won't skip tracks properly.

  • network location

    had a problem accessing files in the network:
    [110312 02:01:32] MediaPipeline::enqueue() "file://serverxp/e/MP3/Dance/ladytron/light and magic/ladytron - 11 - nuhorizons.mp3"

    [110312 02:01:32] ScrobSocket::transmit() Connection state == QAbstractSocket::UnconnectedState
    [110312 02:01:32] MediaPipeline::onPhononStateChanged() Phonon::ErrorState was Phonon::LoadingState

  • re: network location

    yeah, I did that and it works now. had to delete LocalCollection.db.
    the scan behavior during startup is a tad annoying, wish there was an option to uncheck. but it's worth the wait. the idea of taking tags from last.fm instead of the files (which are often mis categorized, or mono categoric) is awesome.
    Last.fm really should launch a complete music player, with options to retag local files automagically. I would totally dump WMP for Last.fm Local/online Player

    +1

    There's Last.fm Boffin for Android now:

  • Growing Boffin

    Hey there,
    I think Boffin is an absolutely fantastic idea
    What are the chances of this being absorbed into last.fm as opposed to being a standalone piece of software.

    I'm interested in possibly creating a website for it.
    lastfmboffin.com or something?

    Keen to help out the development any way i can, and maybe itll give me something to do with a bit of the free time I have at the moment.

    Thoughts?
    =)
