Great choice (especially arcticology) But I beleive the Brian Eno album is actually a Laraaji release produced by Brian Eno

  • i've been listening to a lot of brian eno lately; ambient 4: on land is a very good album! 3rd place

Hehe man no prob. It's hard to pin down who's the main artist on Ambient 3.

Deathprod now that's also something new to discover. I have the Deathprod/Biosphere split CD. Was very convincing.

  • yeah man... that's a damn good one... but i think deathprod's solo stuff is better... it;s pretty damn dark XD

  • Alpha Wave Movement - A Distant Signal
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92
    Biosphere - Substrata
Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden
    Global Communication - 76:14

  • Yagya - Rigning
Carbon BAsed Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden
    Solar Fields - Movements
Shulman - Endless Rhythms Of The Beatless Heart
Vibrasphere - Selected Downbeats Vol. 1

  • 1. Jam & Spoon - Tripomatic Fairytales 2002

There's some rubbish on there but fortunately it's sandwiched between some of the best ambient tripping music ever made. This has been my favourite album for about 10 years now.

    2. Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children

    3. Boards of Canada - Geogaddi

    4. Biosphere - Substrata

I only heard Substrata for the first time last weekend. I couldn't believe it. An instant favourite- how pleased am I?

    5. Global Communication - 76 14

Shame there was no room for Ulrich Schnauss.
I'm new to a lot of this stuff, so I've no doubt my list will be very different in 6 months.

I'm about to check out Steve Roach and these Lid Stars you're all so keen on. I'm expecting great things.

    1. Brian Eno - Ambient 4
    2. Slowdive - Pygmalion
    3. The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld
    4. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Volume II
    5. Cluster & Brian Eno - Cluster & Eno

I think Slowdive counts, even though they are shoegaze, but Pygmalion moves them into more minimal, ambient territory. Cluster & Eno also feels more melodic than the stuff Eno normally does but I'd still throw it in as ambient

  • Some interesting choices on here. I'll be going through and checking some of them out. Here's mine in no particular order:

    Markus Guentner - 1981
    The Orb - Orbus Terrarum
    Loscil - Plume
    Siegmar Fricke - Medical Soundscapes
The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld

I heartily recommend Medical Soundscapes to anyone looking for something new. It's absolutely excellent, and because it's available free on this website you have no excuse for not checking out ;)
