Geogaddi?? Some parts of that album (which is up there in my top 3 albums ever) are as far away from ambient as you can get! BOC's In a Beautiful Place EP might be considered as their most ambient record perhaps.. although it's not.

in no particular order, though Chillout and 76:14 were the first ambient albums I gave proper listen to so they rank as the two best for me.

Brian Eno/Harold Budd: THE PEARL
Aphex Twin: SELECTED AMBIENT WORKS VOLUME 2
Stars of the Lid: THE TIRED SOUNDS OF SOTL
Steve Roach: DREAMTIME RETURN

And I have to cheat and add Pete Namlook's incredible AIR 1 and AIR 2 double. Sort of ethno-ambient, but utterly transcendent.
