It began with me being extremely intrigued with David Firth's works over at www.fat-pie.com, and me then checking out his music. First I listened to I'm the Manager, which is his experimental shoegaze outfit, which is another one of my favorite genres. Next I stumbled upon his IDM moniker Locust Toybox. From their I found Aphex Twin's IDM works, then his ambient ones, then Boards of Canada, and so on and so forth.

  • When I was en teenager I was hooked up on trance music. Big influences where Sven Väth, Cosmic Baby, early Orbital and CJ Bolland.

In once bought this compilation Trance Europe Express (disc 1) & Trance Europe Express (disc 2). It came with a magazine that featured the artists on the CD. A few artists from above where featured. But it also feautured Aphex Twin's TocarAnalogue Bubblebath 3. This new style of music really intrigued me and I began looking for it.

Later that year I discovered MTV's The Chill out Zone. And this one night they played Aphex Twin's Schottkey 7th Path. That track really touched me!! as it was followed in the playlist by The Orb's Towers Of Dub. I Obliged myself to buy those two albums:

    Selected Ambient Works 85-92
    U.F.Orb.

The word Ambient Music Really got stuck in my head. So I borrowed Ambient 1: Music for Airports from the library in My town and there I went... . . .

  • hehe... legend of zelda, ocarina of time music... remember the stuff they played in the dungeons? it's not the kinda ambient i'm really into anymore (there was no drone there) but it's still good, especialy for the tools that Koji Kondo had at his disposal...

and also, the fripp & eno albums... especialy equatorial stars

  • I started off my way by listening to ATB's Two Worlds Album (Double Disc) One CD was Trancy, and the other was Chill, after that i got hooked on Bluetech, Shulman, ambientium, Yagya, Solar Fields, Asura, Abakus, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Celtic Cross, Dub Trees, Aphex Twin, and Some Of Llewellyn Stuff.
