After making a small stir in the Black Metal underground with their 2004 mini-CD Le Secret, Alcest have musically left their origins in that scene far behind them. Their music manages to evoke a spring-like atmosphere full of beauty, intense joy and light, but also yearning and nostalgia. It brings to mind memories of the innocence and bliss of a childhood long past as well as impressions of a fantastic realm of perfect harmony.

I am pleased to inform you that Alcest has signed a contract for 5 albums with the legendary metal/folk label Prophecy Productions.

"Souvenirs.." is arguably one of the best albums this decade. Can't wait to see Neige and C:o when they're playing in Germany next year.

Alcest isn't really metal though. I get both sides of the argument, but it's all opinion. I mean, I can see the music being depressing in a nostalgic kind of way but it can also be playful and fun and conjure memories of a simpler time.

Neige says his music isn't depressive, he says it should make you happy but I don't feel that way it always depresses me and thats why alcest is one of my top 10 depressive metal bands

I doubt it, since Neige has suggested that it will be a few years before we see a new album. He did say in an interview that he was going to record the songs from Le Secret again, though.

Alcest is such an awesome band. I can't wait to hear more from them. From what Valfunde told me, they're not working on a new album right now, which is a shame...But as long as their not dead, I keep my hopes on a new album by the end of 2008.
