Post-Rock with female singers?

  • Post-Rock with female singers?

I'm looking for music like Oceansize or Porcupine Tree.. but with a female singer.. and it should be a little more post-rockish.. any ideas? :)

Maybe not pure postrock but you should definetly check out "Battle ov Mice".

  • Una, definitely great band...though maybe not in the vein of those two..Victory At Sea, Jessica Baliff and Hrsta have female vocalists but may not be what your looking for...

    relax
  • Hm.. i've listened to it all.. but it's not that what I was looking for.. but i like Victory At Sea.. so thanks :)

    More recommendations are appreciated =)

  • Gregor Samsa

  • uff, that's a difficult question...
All Angels Gone and A Genuine Freakshow have some female vocals.

well also in the primal vain of post rock you could check Stereolab and Yo La Tengo

and is not post-rock but i will definetly recomend you
    Blonde Redhead

And good luck with your quest, i'll be checking this to see what's going on.

  • But maybe the problem will be that you are looking more in to the Post-metal vain, if that is the case that bands maybe are not for you.

  • George Dorn Screams, Odessa Chen, Rodan...

  • For early post-rock, I second Stereolab. Also: Insides, Earwig, Laika, Snowpony, Amp, Seefeel, Scala, Movietone, Pram...

HṚṢṬA - amazing band from constellation records with wonderful eerie female vocals. I'd start with their 2007 album Ghosts Will Come And Kiss Our Eyes. I believe the entire album is available for listening here

Hey there.....just saw your post....and thought that you may like the Zoetic self titled album. They are also working on a new project that will be out sometime this year:

  • Since when were Oceansize and Porcupine Tree Post-Rock?

  • Look up the song "Hush" by Sequence Pulse. Awesome female vocals in an awesome post-rock song.

    Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia...
I don't know any other one.
Though, i must tell you it's not like Oceansize and PT at all.

These are much less heavier than PT (don't know about Oceansize), but give Valley of the Giants and Piano Magic (I recommend their earlier stuff) a try.
