  If you like the Rite of Spring then read Van Den Toorn. The UCSB professor was bar tending in Boston when he wrote a book on the Rite of Spring that revolutionized how theorists viewed the piece and had colleges from across the globe trying to give him a free ride. Personally, I prefer the Symphony of Psalms.

  The Rite of Spring is quite unique, but you might try 'The Miraculous Mandarin' by Béla Bartók, Amériques by Edgard Varèse or Sensemayá by Silvestre Revueltas for pieces with similar intensity, orchestral power and rhythmic drive. The best follow-up in my opinion, however, is Stravinsky's own 'Les Noces', especially the recording by the Pokrovsky Ensemble.

  I totally agree with conradmr and it is not just classical music that is best listened to in context but I believe the restriction is a legal one, to do with licensing rather than technical or business reasons?
