Unable to scrobble from my iPod

  • Unable to scrobble from my iPod

Songs scrobble when I'm listening to my iPod on my computer but on it's own it isn't taking anything. Any advice on what to do?

Does playcount increase in iTunes after synching with iPod?
Please provide your client version details and iTunes version details.
In client: help -> about last.fm

    Thanks!

  • I'm not sure if I quite understand the first part of the question. Sadly, I'm a bit of a noob with some of this stuff.

    As for the rest:

    Last.fm for Windows: Version 1.5.1.29527
    iTunes plugin: Version 3.0.2.0
    Winamp plugin: Version 2.1.0.9
Windows Media Player plugin: Version 2.1.0.6

i am having a similar problem. last.fm scrobbles tracks played from my iTunes library, but not my iPod. i'm using Mac OS X 10.3.9 with a 4th gen iPod, and last.fm 1.1.3.0. I sync my iPod automatically.

  • Yea my iPod isn't scrobbling either. I tried scrobbling via diagnostics but that still wont work.

  • Hey all.

No idea if this will help you, but I spent ages playing around with installing/uninstalling/3rd party programs, and nothing worked. In the end, I re-installed iTunes and Last.fm, then went into Task Manager and closed all the iTunes/iPod processes, and the Last.fm one, then re-started, then opened iTunes by plugging the iPod in, and just as I'd given up and ejected the iPod... it scrobbled 166 tracks going back about two weeks!

I'm going to try again now and leave it plugged in to get the rest (hadn't worked for about a month until today).

    Hope it helps.

Our client uses iTunes stats to scrobble iPod. You can't scrobble using winamp.

Well iTunes has play-count for each track, please check if playcount increases when you connect your iPod [with played tracks on it].
If playcount column is not showing up in itunes library, please right-click on any column's header and select "playcount" - this will generate a playcount column.
Please remember, that client can scrobble only iPods which are synchronized with iTunes. Client will not scrobble from iPod if you remove tracks from iTunes after you've added them to your iPod.

    Hi,

Been having problems with iPod scrobbling recently.
On my work computer tracks usually get scrobbled though only after doing the "iTunes /regserver" command every single time, and even then often some tracks are overlooked.
In the Last.fm client under "Known iPods" I have three listed for some reason, one is my actual iPod associated with my Last.fm account, another says iphone/000A27...., and the third is diagnostic/unknown.

On this computer the setup is as follows:

    Windows XP
    iTunes 8
    Last.fm Version 1.5.2.38918
    iTunes plugin version 3.0.2.0
iPod is manually managed, it's an 80GB iPod Classic

    iTunes playcounts are updated.

Any help from staff or anyone else would be much appreciated

    Me again, sorry for double-post.

On my home computer since re-installing Windows a month ago I can't get my iPod to be detected properly by Last.fm
It comes up under "Known iPods" as iphone/something, with no Last.fm account associated. Tried removing it and connecting again, even rollback to previous version of client but still no joy, furthest I got was saying "no new tracks to scrobble" after listening to quite a few. Now it doesn't even say that.

I think all specifications are the same for that computer as well.

    Cheers.

Is "enable iPod scrobbling" option switched on in "tools > iPod"?

    Hi,

Yes it is, on both computers.
And as I said, on my work computer I do get some of the tracks scrobbled but not all, and even that only after doing the "iTunes /regserver" command.

  • So are the tracks wich get skipped when sycing from work stored in your iTunes local library?
Manual management is not the most effective so i guess this is more a matter of tweaking things than.
A good workaround to synch automatically even when music on your library is more than the overall space availble on you iPod, is to sych through a dedicated playlist.

Same problem... I have an iTouch 30GB

    Windows Vista
    iTunes 8
    Last.fm Version 1.5.2.38918
    iTunes plugin version 3.0.2.0
    Manually managed iPod, 30GB iTouch

Every day I connect my iPod it scrobbles ONE song out of the many that I may have played. So weird.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Well to me it seems completely random which tracks get scrobbled and which are omitted. Most of the tracks on my iPod are not stored in my local iTunes library at work, however they get stored. Last week an album I had in this library didn't get scrobbled.
This morning for example all the tracks I listened to over the weekend got scrobbled.

I understand manual management makes scrobbling complicated, however I don't really understand what you mean by "sync through a dedicated playlist".

And what about my iPod not getting properly detected on my home computer?

    Cheers.
